I have a number of large datasets (n=55-60) with high variability - to minimise variabilty can I apply 95% confidence intervals to the dataset and only take those falling within the range through to further analysis? At the moment, I'm only returning 5-7 values out of 55-60, which seems very low and so I'm not massively convinced this is an appropriate test.
