I'm very worried. More than I have been for most games this season, even the Mancs and Chelsea games, which were extreme nervous excitement. But today, I'm worried. I couldn't work out why at first - I'm fairly confident, even without Gerrard or Alonso, we have enough about us to get past City at home. But then I realised that not winning today, unlike any other game this season, realistically puts us out of the title race.

 

A draw would put us 7 points behing THEM, and while I'm sure bigger margins have been overcome, even a win at Old Toilet (which itself is a big if), would put us 4 points behind them, which given their current form/run is a tall order - would mean us winning every game and them slippping up in at least two games.

 

Depsite the schite wranglings behind the scenes continuing at the club, I've loved the challenge we've put in to win the title and would love to be in with a shout come April, but a draw or defeat today would basically take us right out into a scrap for 2nd, 3rd and 4th surely?

 

While I've thought that many games this season have been seen as 'must wins', this is the first time this season that I've thought not winning would put us genuinely out of it.

And every game is not like a cup final. No extra time, no penalties to play for. A ' must win ' approach.

 

 

If Given has one of those games today, i'll lamp him one at Cheltenham.

Man, the fixtures really are a mess in his league arn't they. Why can't they do it like they do it Spain and Italy so everyone has the same amount of games played all the time? It has an unnatural influence on the league.
