SPEAK TO ALAN KENNEDY ON LFC TV TONIGHT

Paul Eaton 27 November 2008

Alan Kennedy will be joined by Liverpool Echo journalist Tony Barrett in our LFC TV studios tonight to take your calls live on air in 'This is Anfield'.

After a couple of below par displays from the Reds we'll be discussing whether the nervousness among the supporters is affecting the team on the pitch.

Should the fans be getting behind the team rather than barracking certain players? Or maybe you believe fans have a right to make their opinions known during games.

We also want to hear your reaction to our victory over Marseille which secured our place in the last sixteen of this season's Champions League.

Whatever you want to discuss with Alan or Tony, this is your show and your platform to have your say, so make sure you get involved by calling 0845 234 4567 when the lines open at 8.45pm. The programme gets underway on LFC TV at 9pm.

Just been chatting to the Producer. He's keen to get some new people to call up and have their say. The issue of crowd support/frustration should be an interesting one, certainly read some interesting takes on it the past few days, hopefully some of you will give Tony and AK a call about it?

The atmosphere will never get back to the peak of the 60's and 70's. Different social class of supporters, all-seat stadia, saturation tv coverage, higher level of expectation etc.

Cliff and Billybunter have covered just about everything there.

After the apocalypse the atmosphere will improve as we'll be playing for the head of the opposing village captain, for the time being we're too civilised, too middle class and too Premier League authenticated.

the atmosphere in the European Cup Semi against Chelsea in 2005 is widely regarded to be the best ever. i think what makes the atmosphere seem better back then is nothing more than nostalgia. during the 80's when we were winning everything, it was quite often s****, just as it is now. maybe we should bring back a bit of hooliganism and racism to spice the atmosphere up

No doubt about it.

There are times vs St Etienne when you can hear the players shouting to each other.

The terracing made things more lively but it wasn't always a recipe for mayhem

Apart from the tongue in cheek last bit, I couldn't agree more. When we were winning everything in the late 70s and early 80s, the Kop very often had to entertain itself and there were many games where you'd get more atmosphere in a place where there, err, wasn't much atmosphere  . Had the internet been around then, people would have been saying that the glories of winning made up for the lack of noise for most games. I especially remember a European cup semi final against Bayern Munich where it was possible to rock a small child to sleep without fear of sudden noise waking it and being able to walk from one side of the Kop to the other without too much hinderance (try that now you young 'uns!)

I remember going to the odense game years ago and we were winning 5-0 (I think) and it was that one sided everyone started booing our players in possession and cheering the odense players and singing odense. Mind you i think it was f***en freezin aswell.

I remember going against dundalk aswell and that atmosphere was s**** apart from when one of the away fans tripped over his flairs on the stairs and dropped a tray full of tea
