went to Ireland last month on aer lingus and when we got to collect our bags our suitcase had been broken by the baggage handlers.

The Aer Lingus Customer services dept was right by the carousel so i lifted up the damaged bag took it 10 yards straight to them to complain. They accepted the complaint, filled out a few forms, gave me a complaint number and suggested i travel into Dublin the next day with the damaged bag for it to be 'assessed' Fact of the matter is i wasn't staying in Dublin and hadn't come to Ireland for the weekend to piss about on the saturday trying to get compensation for my damaged suitcase.

So i was told i had to put the complaint in writing, with my reference number. This i did.

One month later i've heard nothing, not so much as a "Dear Cobs, thanks for your letter, we're not giving you a red cent, f*** off ye big bollix, love, Aer Lingus".

So, i've tried to get to speak to Customer Services

the internet provides a stack of numbers to get through to them for different things but i couldn't find a customer services number - though their website does say all complaints must be in writing - which is great except the feckers don't respond when you do. Then i came across this

excellent - rang the number, got through to a switchboard - who, check this, aren't allowed to put customers through to the customer care unit
