Attractive Football

When was the last time Liverpool played attacking, free flowing attractive football for any sustained period of time...

I just cant beleive how negative we have become, i thought Houliier (SP) was bad but Rafa is shocking, we have not had a pair of wingers since year dot, Agger is the only CB we have had in years who is capable of passing the ball on the floor, Torres is a 1st rate striker but i remember not to long ago we had Stan, Robbie and MO all in one team.

End of rant for now

God knows.

I personally thought some of the football we played around Crimbo time in 2005 was delightful to watch, we just battered teams left right and centre for a few months.

Not that it matters of course, in 01/02 we finished 2nd and played some god awful stuff but it worked.

I couldnt give a f*** how our football looks, thats for Arsenal and Abromovich. If we win the league playing this poorly all season then I would have no complaints. Results count.

Ye agreed i couldnt care as long as we won the league , but i just dont think we are near it this season so we may as well have a go play with players in their correct position and have real go at teams.

I think younger fans feel that winning is all that counts but i have seen Liverpool play great football and still win.

We went to Villa and played for a 0-0 ! I appreciate we were without Stevie G but come on we should be going there and makeing them hold us back!

I'll tell you what's attractive, watching Stevie G lift the PL trophy.

However, that is unlikely to happen (with best will in the world), especially if we can't string three fecking passes together.

We have played some great football under Rafa and quite a bit just last year. Stevie and Fernando linking up was beautiful to watch. Not that it matters, its winning thats important.

I don't think we play unattractive football but we've started the season in bad from and are thankfully not losing games.

I expect us to improve.

The answer would be around 1996/97.

Hopefully we'll never go back to that.

Ye but its not just this season i remember loads of games where i would have been quite happy if the game ended at half time!

Im not talking about intricate passing and messing about like Arsenal or Barca (a few years ago) but just going into games and saying lets have a go, we should be scaring teams, but i think most teams look at us and say - keep it tight they have no width or pace just leave them come on to us.

How many times have we been bailed out of 0-0 with a wonder strike

not that many in recent years in run of the mill games, which is a problem i hope we are solving

Thats a fair point, but its why you need to have match winners in your squad. We are not playing well at the moment, but our world class players have dragged us to having the best record in the league over the three games played.

Every 'pundit' and punter knew that our difficulty was being too narrow, so we have bought someone who we hope will give us an extra dimension up front and will at least free up the possibility of having SG at RM assuming a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Is a more pertinent question. All top sides do it, in certain games keep it tight and hope you take your chance. Robbie Keane missed ours on Sunday. Such is life, if the side was a bit more together you'd hope we would go to Villa and dominate but it wasn't going ot happen on Sunday so the tactics seemed right to me.

Remember Barca v United. United offered nothing at home against Barca except a Scholes wonder strike. That's football, you try and sign good players who will win you matches. Some days you batter sides and other days good players get you out of holes (Tevez away in Lyon).

Call me petty if you will, but I refuse to read the witterings of someone who can't spell the most recent manager's name - and knows he has probably spelled it wrong but can't be bothered to check

Remind me how many games, Collymore, Fowler and Owen played together - yes, absolutely none

Perhaps you should give up your tickets to the game then
