We've changed a hell of a lot in four years, with a lot of dross being shipped out

Kinda gives you faith that we're heading in the right direction

Its worth remembering that a lot of players have been both brought in and let go by Rafa.

Off the top of my head: Josemi, Garcia, Nunez, Pellegrino, Morientes, Crouch, Sissoko, Zenden, Kromkamp, Fowler, Bellamy, Gonzalez, Paletta. (Clearly, Alonso would be another if we get the price we're after.)

I don't have a problem with that. Hanging on to dead wood was one of GH's downfalls

GH = Gave too much time to his own buys

Rafa = If I bought you and your not good enough , your out, NOW.

of course, I believe we're heading in the right direction.

not sure that it necessarily follows from what you've posted, though - like any new manager, he has made lots of changes to the squad. Souness did, too, and not for the better.

also many of these players were sold for profit

My point being he has made changes that, unlike Souness, have been for the better

by pointing out that Garcia and Hamann have gone?

I'm not saying you're wrong about the progress we're making, but can't follow the logic of your first post I'm afraid.

All I was doing was musing on the number of changes there have been - in particular, and entire subs bench has gone - while our rivals haven't made so many.

That was really it

The comment about dross wasn't aimed specifically at the players who had been crossed out, was more just a general observation

I'm sorry that all this wasn't spelt out in words of one syllable for you

you don't half get pissy when someone politely disagrees with you.

anyway, a minute ago, when I said that lots of changes weren't necessarily a good thing, apparently your point was that it was the quality, not the quantity of changes that was important. a couple of posts later, and it's exactly the opposite.

yes but it is also worth considering that Rafa probably wouldnt buy players of that qulity bracket anymore as we've come up a level under him.
