Sky +

I am already a Sky customer and want Sky + but as I am a tight b*****d I am exploring ways of getting it without spending the £150 or whatever it is on it. I got an email saying if I introduce somebody to Sky then we both get free Sky +.

Is anyone here interested or does anyone know a way to get it cheaper?

Threaten to end your contract.

I rang them and mentioned that virgin had offered me the V+ for free and asked them what they could do, which turned out to be basically f*** all. I dont want to threaten them, because I wont cancel (I cant get virgin in my road) and if they called my bluff I would look a right t**. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and spend the dough!

Hassony, I would ask him, but he is a media whore, you know that

Ask to speak to the cancelation department, they usually have much more power and tend to give you better offers

If you threaten to leave, they'll offer you a cheaper deal to your existing package before they'll upgrade you.

Plus Sky+ doesn't cost that much to upgrade to, nowhere near it. I'm sure the box is free but it's an extra tenner a month. HD is expensive though the boxes have now come down to £200 from £300 apparently.

The Sky + box is £130 I think.

My mate recommended me to sky and cos of the road lay out they couldnt get the dish up so I had to get an arial specialist to do it, ANYWAY, he rang up saying the offer ran out and he wanted the sky, and they said he wasnt entitled, and he said WHAT? and they said unless you want to cancel sir, "I never said I would cancel, how dare you put words in my mouth" and the bloke said "Are you saying you will cancel???" "erm yes" he got a free sky plus box and they let him keep his old one, so he can get multiroom for f*** all.

so complain lad.

say you are leaving. you get a 28 day cancellation period. they will call you before the end. if they don't, just call them in the last week and cancel your cancellation.

see who blinks first, how do you feel, lucky?

Totally agree with those who say to speak to cancellations dept - you will get nowhere with customer services unless they put you through to them and you seem to be serious about cancelling.

I used to do it every few months and get a discount on monthly charge. Even if they process the cancellation it does not take effect for 30 days and they WILL contact you within that time to offer you a better deal.

Forget Sky+ and go straight to Sky HD. Mention to your mate that he has f***ing enormous pores on his face on HD though. Needs to spend some time picking up some metrosexual skin grooming tips from Torres.

Calculate the cost of the box over the number of years you will probably have it and it works out to about (£200/36 months) £5.50 per month - or a pint at a night club. The subscription increase is just the equivalent of 2-3 of those pints a month. Well worth it.

Sky had some promotional thing in the Trafford Centre today, saying SKY+ box is free until June 21st.

Didn't see any small print about new customers only, but then I didn't ask either coz I've already got it.

Might be worth a call to say you'd seen that today, and you want the same deal as a loyal customer?
