  1. Congratulations to Torres, first Liverpool player to score in 7 consecutive home games in the League.
  2. Kuyt has got a terrible first touch, yes he works hard but he is simply not good enough to be part of a title winning squad.
  3. Gerrard needs to cut out his theatrics, the second one in particular was embarrassing. He could have easily stayed on his feet and scored.
  4. Referee had a nightmare for both sides, we got decisions for and against us.
  5. Crowd was dead today, so disappointed to see Anfield has come to this now in the majority of League games.
  6. The performance itself was a case of "After the Lord's Mayor Show" we did just enough to clinch it. Though I'll admit I thought we were heading for another Wigan.
  7. Alonso had a much better game today, his best for a while.
  8. Babel once again flatters to deceive when starting a game. He never lasts 90mins and its starting to worry me whether he can have an significant impact from the start rather than just coming off the bench.
  9. Lucas again had a quiet but effective game but what is HIS role when he comes into the centre of midfield?
  10. Man of the Match was Gerrard but he needs to cut out "going down easy in the penalty area" he is better than that.
  11. Taken 3 points, 5 points clear now, effectively 6 with goal difference. Looking good for 4th place and maybe just maybe we have a chance of sneaking 3rd from Arsenal.

So because Babel and Lucas aren't dominating games at the minute they're 'not very good' - which is what you seem to be implying.

They're only 21 and in their first seasons in this league - give them time before sticking the boot in, especially after a decent performance from Babel and a very good performance from Lucas.

In Dirk Kuyt's last 10 games , he has 7 assits and 3 goals. Go on , find a winger with a better record in a top league. Go on.

C ronaldo :bleh:

Kuyt is very good today, if it wasn't for torres's goal he would have been in my top 3 for MOTM

The question you need to answer about Kuyt is this, is he a good enough player to be part of a title winning squad in HIS position? He isn't simple as, unless he improves his first touch and his ability on the ball he never will be.

he is more effective than Hleb

and....? The bar at the moment is the Mancs not Arsenal, lets compare our attacking threat to the champions.

Mancs - Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Saha

Us - Torres, Voronin, Kuyt, Crouch

Huge gulf in class. Kuyt isn't good enough ability wise over the course of a season, he should be out the door along with Voronin in the summer.

just got back.

quiet game for torres, thought he was looking a bit tired. Id be happy for him to sit out some league games now with Crouch coming in.

Gerrard was immense today, dont think we would have won without him.

Alonsos best game for a considerable amount of time, kept the ball extremely well.

Babel clearly couldnt be f***ed today.

Looking at the players we finished the game with - Voronin, Yossi, Leiva, Kuyt, Riise it does just highlight that although we have a big squad, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's a strong squad.

United and Chelsea have quality in depth, we don't.

The same came into my mind aswell. The side that ended the game definitley had some very average players playing. The key though is to get them contributing at various stages through the season though in the way Yossi did today and helped change the game.

Dont think Gerrard dived today to be honest. Dont think they were penalties either though

We dont even have the quality in the first 11.

Kuyt, Aurelio, Arbeloa and Babel wouldnt be getting in Mancs or Chelsea team.

True, but would Carrick, Brown and Van Der Sar get in ours? Probably not.

Rubbish at what? He passed the ball well and broke up what little attempt Blackburn made to move the ball forward.

have to say our fullbacks are not nearly good enough and are areas where we can make quantam leaps in quality by the addition of a few top quality purchases.

didn't pass the ball well, got caught in possession a lot and was generally slow in body and mind.

Disagree that Aurelio or Babel aren't good enough for our first 11. Agree fully with Arbeloa and Kuyt

Thankfully Rafa seems to be looking at rb and wide midfield for the summer.

Course they wouldnt.

Reina is a better keeper clearly but we could find a place in our side for any of those other players.

Babel might come good given time, but right now hes a bit of a passenger.

Carrick and/or Hargreaves could easily come in and replicate what Lucas/Alonso/Mascherano do for us at the moment.

Brown has had a good season.

I think the injuries to Neville and Silvestre have helped the Mancs play a settled defence. That back four have been generally

excellent all season and they have a nice balance of pace, strength and fullbacks who overlap in attack and get back to defend.

We launch the ball forward far, far too often

Are you honestly suggesting that Carrick and Hargreaves are on the same level as Mascherano?
