A quick research on the official FA site reveals that Liverpool do not have a single young english international!! (U16 through to U21)

We are all waiting for a new Gerrard or a new Carra but our young english lads can´t even manage to get in the english setup.

After viewing the offal I got excited about rave reviews on Nathan Eccleston, Stephen Darby, David Amoo, Jay Spearing and Adam Hammill.

Is there no reason to get excited???

I couldn't give a monkey's about any of our players getting capped at any level. I'm more interested in what they achieve at club level

Who gives a f***. Honestly, in the nicest possible way, this England vs foreigner s*** hits the media every time the national team lose.

I heard fat c*** brazil talking about it on the radio this morning and how the top 5 players in the uk are all foreign and it's stifling talent.

It's not because of dirty foreigners taking lovely englanders places, it's because it'they simply breed better, more cultured players and here c**** agents badly advise players to chase their penneth of the sky pocket rather than work for the long run, and that inflates prices.

Gray -YPC posted the same over on TLW, this is what I said to him there:

We've never really been well represented at youth level for England. Fowler was on the bench for England u16s to u18s because Kevin Gallen was in the team ahead of him. Gerrard didn't get picked regularly until u18 level.

I watch a fair bit of youth football and we have a load of lads who are better than what's in the u18 and u19 squads. Spearing and Darby should be in the u19 team never mind the squad. Ecclestone, Highdale,Amoo and Kelly should also be in the u17 and u18s, although England are particularly strong at that age group and have done well over the last few years so it's a struggle to break in to the team. I don't know enough about the younger age groups to know who we have.

Having said all that, we haven't been producing enough quality players in recent years, that's obvious enough. I think/hope all that will change over the next few years though when we have our school up and running and will be able to give WAY more coaching to our players.

The important thing is to perform at top level but Carra, Gerrard and Owen for example all played for the younger England teams. On the other hand we have John Welsh for example who was extremely promising but never made the grade.

That said young players who have broken through the ranks all have played for England and now we don´t have a player in any of the younger teams so some might imply that the future is not as bright as we might think.

Strange though that we have won the youth cup last two years and now the reserves are topping their table so we are doing something right with the youngsters..

Nathan Eccleston has played for the England U17's

You've obviously impressed at Liverpool since arriving at the Academy and you have also been recognised by England. Tell us a bit about your time as a youth international?

I made my debut for England Under-17 last season. We played in a youth tournament in Belgium and I came on as substitute against Spain. I did reasonably well and got an assist for our goal but unfortunately we ended up losing the game 2-1. I started the second game of that competition against Portugal and put in a good performance in a 1-1 draw. There have been other competitions but because of my commitments with Liverpool and the competitions we have been involved in, I haven't always been able to go away with England. But I'm still part of the set up and hope to play more games in the future.

Which suggests that our players can't actually play for England at times because of their committments to us.

I wish this could be implemented at senior level!
