Watches - Recommendations

There's countless threads on hotels in NY, which MP3 player to buy etc... but nothing on watches

 

Does anybody have any recommendations, as i'm not really up on what are the best makes bar the obvious (Fossil Tag etc...)be it a make or even a particular watch?

 

I'm looking for a modern-ish but still formal looking watch, preferably not digital but i quite like the ones that are like half digital/half traditional (I think Rafa has one like this, which looks great) and want to pay no more than about £200/$400
