that would have been the worst 90mins ive seen from us in a very, very long time..instead it was the worst 89mins..

Torres shows what top money can buy...world class, something out of nothing.......a complete and utter terrible display by the other 10 players...

title well out of our hands another "fight:" on for a champs league spot.....im sure maybe in a few weeks i`ll be excited by it , right now.. i couldnt give a s***.

we need more players like Torres before we can consistently compete for the league. We are just a cup team at present

it was a complete mess out there.....and we do have quality players, something just aint right behind the scenes, which we all know..and it all started with pako leaving....what was a season to be excited about has fallen apart and now is looking like a complete train wreck.....the rafa situation one way or another needs to get sorted and quick.

Its the same old argument we have after every bad result, compared to the other top sides we have a lack of truly great world class players. Torres is a shining example of exactly what signing top quality players does, you can afford not to be great all the time because these great players will produce more often than not. If you're relying on 2 players to do that, of course your going to struggle sometimes, we need more world class attacking players, simple.

Of course it would help but there's no excuse for not having a squad of technically proficient footballers with the amount of money we've spent; employing workhorses to play between the lines and take on wide positions in crucial periods of matches isn't conducive to playing creative football.

Managers always talk about progress.

Last season we had one match winner , now we have two.

Thats progress isn't it ? :wacko::wacko:

At this rate in

Another 3 years or so and we might have enough world class match winners in our side to challenge for the title .

we only chase games in the last few minutes - so we look desperate - clearly the manager has the team on a leash.

my guess is he doesnt think we have the ability to break teams down and win by attacking like Man U and Arsenal do

Torres is having a deja vu. He's forced to carry the team like he did at Atletico...

I doubt the Atletico defenders bombarded Torres with longballs when marked by a giant defender.

Terrible football we're playing. Gerrard's whacking 60 yard cross-field balls when players are coming short, Xabi's not fit and playing poorly and there's little flair in the side.

It would help if we played the right team. A situation tailor-made for Crouch, we were facing a side with a scratch centre-half pairing, Woodgate wasn't playing and they had a complete rookie playing at fullback. And what do we decide to do.......? Frighten the life out of them by playing Voronin.....

"Frighten the life out of them by playing Voronin..... "

the thing I can't understand is having Kuyt on the bench to bring on. Before the game started you could have put your house on no matter what the score may be when/should Kuyt come on it would be for Vorinin , and in my opinion they are too alike , at least Crouch is a different option.

In a strange way, the more and more Torres, Mascherano and Babel play well and Kuyt, Crouch, Riise etc. play s*** the more it may convince the owners to give Rafa even more money in the summer. Maybe.

agree. The players would do better if more faith was shown in them. Rafa must have seen more in them when he signed them than they are currently showing, Riise aside of course.......

"im starting to feel sorry for Torres, he`s stuck with another "nearly team""

I was thinking that myself but he's young and even in a team thats playing so badly is doing very well and would have no end of clubs wanting him tomorrow.

Torres looked very frustrated today.

Probably a mix of getting clattered so much and the terrible non-service he got for his team-mates.

Torres needs a Dalglish or a Crouch with some pace ... he had neither

Credit to Rafa for buying him in the first place surely? He knows the quality he needs - he just doesn't have the money to get all of the players he wants.

To think there were people questioning whether he was good enough, whether his goal scoring record was good enough, if he was over-rated and living off his past wonderkid status etc. etc. We paid £18M for him - that's our record transfer. If we give Rafa proper backing in the summer he'll be able to bring in two players of similar ability.

Rafa could have bought a top notch player every window if he wanted. It was in the good old days of Dave Moores when Rafa had 100% control and no Americans in his way remember? He could have saved his money and bought more players like Torres, but he chose to spread it out on more players. Simple as that. If he gets credit for signing Torres (which he should), he has to take the responsibility for the not-so-rosy stuff as well.
