Not sure if it bothers others, but setanta have started broadcasting in Australia but do not carry the liverpool channel yet. Whilst I would normally subscribe anyway for the other sports they do show, I cannot do it on the principle that they show the Chav and scum club channels.

Anyway, I wrote a complaint and got this response.

Thanks for your feedback regarding LFC TV.

FA Premier League rules state you can only licence 2 club channels per territory (Australia). We signed deals with MUTV and Chelsea TV before Liverpool TV launched so therefore we will be unable to broadcast another club channel at the moment.

We will review our club channel situation in the near future and your feedback and the feedback of hundreds of Liverpool fans who have contacted us will be taken into account, so things may change, but for now, unfortunately Liverpool TV will not be available on Setanta Australia.

I have asked them what the 'near future' is and will let you know when I get something back. does anyone have any details of the premier league? I wonder what the rationale behind only allowing 2 club channels is?

Sounds like bull - you could (if you were a bit mental ) get MUTV< Chelsea TV & Liverpool TV here in Ireland, no problem. What's the difference?

MUTV was around before Setanta's subscription channel, though. I think it's only Chelsea and Liverpool that are hosted by Setanta. Maybe they mean "FA Premier League rules state that any given broadcaster can only licence 2 club channels per territory (Australia)"?

we have LFCTV, MUTV and ChelseaTV for about 3 -4 hours each every day in SA so not sure if that is a rule though. We also get Real MadridTV and BarcaTV for a couple of hours a day.

It's the same response I got when I asked if they were going to host the LFC channel in Canada.

I also told them they should feck off Chelski TV... :bleh:

A further response:

May not have been clear with the explanation - FA Premier League rules state you can only licence 2 club channels per territory – by “you” we refer to a specific channel, such as Setanta, or FoxSports, or Sky, or ESPN.

In the UK and Ireland – Setanta Sports has Arsenal TV and Liverpool TV, and Sky Sports has MUTV and Chelsea TV – thus it is perfectly possible for your friends to have access to all of these channels.

Setanta Sports Australia had signed deals with MUTV and Chelsea TV two seasons ago – well before Arsenal and Liverpool TV were launched this year – Setanta UK did not have these the Chelsea and Man Utd club channels due to Sky Sports holding the rights to these channels, thus they were able to pick up Arsenal and Liverpool TV over there.
