I may be ridiculed for saying this

but now could be a good time to stick a cheeky bet on us winning the Champions League, or at least betting on us qualifying out of the group stage. Sure it's not looking good, but win all 3 games and we're through. It's still in our hands.

Forgot to add, what price are we to win the Champions League and what price are we to qualify from the group? I can't check gambling sites at whilst at work

My Dad said we'd win the 2005 CL before the Olympiakos game.

He also said we'd get to the CL final in 2007 but lose at half time during the Carling Cup defeat to Arsenal.

I've half a mind to put a bet on whatever he thinks this time. :)

We can still qualify. Things are terminal, but at least we have a chance.

Odds?

I don't fancy us to win in Marseille.

It's deffo the time to be having a bet on the lads to win it. we are more than capable of winning those last 3 games, it'll be a tight squeeze but we are best when our backs are against the wall.

No. We also need other results to go our way. Mainly depends what happens in the Marseille v Porto return.

can't figure out what would be the best result for us, I suppose a porto win, as that will leave things in our own hands (we will have to be marsille in the last game)

if we do qualify from this group now you just know it will be our year

With Alonso back together with Agger and Torres there is no way I can see us lose any of our remaining games in the group stage, we will most likely qualify as number two in the group behind Porto.

Why people fear Marseille is beyond my understanding, a mediocre team if there ever have been one, the team to fear will be Porto, so far they have won away against Besiktas, drawn away against Marseille and drawn at home with us, with two wins at home something I`m pretty sure they will get they will finish with 11 points.

Then its up to ourselves to win our remaining matches and get a better result than 0-1 away against Marseille.

We can also qualify with both 7 and 8 points from this group, so its not over at all.

Lets take a look at the remaining matches.

Marseille - 7p:

Porto-Marseille

Besiktas-Marseille

Marseille-Liverpool

They can easily lose all their remaining matches and finish with 7 points, I think they will get maximum 10 points, but most likely 7 or 8.

Porto - 5p:

Porto-Marseille

Liverpool-Porto

Porto-Besiktas

Porto are my favorites to win the group, I think they will win both their remaining home games, and finish with 11 points.

Besiktas - 3p:

Liverpool-Besiktas

Besiktas-Marseille

Porto-Besiktas

I think Besiktas will finish with 6 points or maybe just 4 if they can only draw against Marseille, they will lose both they away matches.

Liverpool - 1p:

Liverpool-Besiktas

Liverpool-Porto

Marseille-Liverpool

Our key game is the one against Marseille, we need to win that one with a better result than 0-1 to qualify, something we should be more than capable off, we can actually afford to draw against Porto at home, but thats risky business, so if we can win our remaining matches I gthink we will qualify as number two in the group.

We will get a tough draw because of this though, so I`m not sure about the bets, but to win it we will have to beat the best wether its in the final or in the first match of the knock out stage, it cant be much tougher than Barca either way.

That's not correct. We win our remaining games, we go through, regardless of how the other results go. The worst case scenario if we win all of our games is that Porto top the group on 11 points, and us and Marseille are on 10 points. It'd therefore come down to results between us and Marseille. The only result which could put us in danger here is us winning 1-0, which would then mean it'd go to goal difference. Any other scoreline and we'd be through.
