Only having two hours of electricity a day for six weeks in the middle of winter because of the miners strike. The IRA blowing a bunch of shops up at Christmas. Disco, punk and an awful amalgam of Deep Purple/Pink Floyd/Yes/ etc being what was clever music to listen to. Abba winning Eurovision. The Cod Wars. Finding loads of oil and gas in the North Sea. No tele in the morning, shutting off at 11:30pm, Only BBC, BBC2 and ITV to watch. Indoor League, Till Death Us Do Part, Tiswas, The Banana Splits, The Sweeney, Budgie, and the Waltons.
