Guest Sabre Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Good article about him today in the Times. Interesting snippets about how he was racially abused when at school, how his girlfriend has moved over to Liverpool and is about to start a course over here and how he has already asked Gerrard how to improve his shooting technique He really impressed me when he came on today. Tried to make something happen, kept the ball more often than not and got involved. Deserving of a chance up front if you ask me, especially against weaker opposition. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle2604396.ece
alias75 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Looks like one of those players Wenger signs, very good technically, very comfortable on the ball and very explosive, i think Rafa still hasnt figured out the best way to use him, id like to see us try a 4-2-3-1 with Mascherano and 1 other sitting (ideally Alonso) with Gerrard on the right with a lot of attacking license and Babel on the left with maybe Yossi supporting Torres. He certainly gives us something we havent had for a while and thats a winger / forward with explosive pace and power and very good technique.
MFletcher Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I do think our long term strike partnership will be Babel and Torres. I think he has the potential to be a superstar, but he isn't a left winger.
Guest Sabre Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 He's got flair. Not afraid to have a dig, strong enough to make space and also has an eye for a pass. Needs a chance.

Elisha_Scott Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 He played as a striker in a training match this week and was 'hot'
Guest Sabre Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 He played as a striker in a training match this week and was 'hot' It's clear he's got shedloads of talent. I'm glad Rafa gave him 15 minutes up there as I think he showed a lot of promise.
adayinthelife Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 He played as a striker in a training match this week and was 'hot' Any chance you could ask your mate how often they play 5 a sides or focus on passing and movement? Does he still have total confidence in the manager?
Elisha_Scott Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Any chance you could ask your mate how often they play 5 a sides or focus on passing and movement? Does he still have total confidence in the manager? You are joking, right?
floyd the barber Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 he has an unbelievable first touch......his balance is unbelievable...moves almost like a figure skater(im serious)
CaptainXabi Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 You are joking, right? I thought it was just me.
adayinthelife Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) You are joking, right? Yeah, but then again something is seriously wrong. It looks like benitez doesn't trust the players/has lost confidence in them, which is starting to become mutual? Edited October 8, 2007 by adayinthelife
Guest Finnan3 Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Yeah, but then again something is seriously wrong. It looks like benitez doesn't trust the players/has lost confidence in them, which is starting to become mutual? f*** off
_00_deathscar Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Yeah, but then again something is seriously wrong. It looks like benitez doesn't trust the players/has lost confidence in them, which is starting to become mutual Really? According to whom? The only thing Benitez has lost is the faith of muppet fans like your kind self, of which we could do without.
meepins Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 He's actually pretty moderate. You'd want to have a peek in at RAWK where most of the posters have gone into meltdown and some nasty stuff is being spewed. I've only seen about two posts that were trying to calm that nuthouse down. They'll all look like right d*cks when the boat is steadied.

adayinthelife Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) Really? According to whom? The only thing Benitez has lost is the faith of muppet fans like your kind self, of which we could do without. Why do you get so upset over a simple observation I have made? This horrible run we have been on has seen Benitez come out after nearly every match and he has basically blamed the players, which he did again yesterday. True or false? If I was able to get to Anfield I would support the team way more than the vast majority of dummies who are lucky enough to be there, so lay off with your superfan attitude. growler Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 while you at it Elisha, can you ask what they have for breakfast, who is in the team against everton and what is the meaning of life? Thanks,

If I was able to get to Anfield I would support the team way more than the vast majority of dummies who are lucky enough to be there, so lay off with your superfan attitude. After the Marseille match, he said "we are in this together" - or words to that effect. Yesterday, he b******ed the defence and our arsing about in their penalty area - and correctly so. Had we not tried to Arsenal our way into goal, Spurs would have been dead and out. And the defending? Titus Bramble yesterday would've been an improvement on our dozers at the back - was he wrong to publicly lash out at the defence then, for a team that prides itself on its tighter than a duck's-a*** defence?
Cunny Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 From what I've seen of Babel so far, his best performances have been coming on as a sub.He looked the business yesterday when he came on. Strong, skillful, lots of pace - the direct opposite of when he started against Birmingham. I'd like to see him play up front with Torres. Torres on the last man with Babel given a licence to roam. For it to work though it would mean the midfield actually controlling a game and passing it to a red shirt. Something that seems beyond them all at the moment.

Riise at left mid at home to Spurs ? Rafa does infuriate me sometimes. £11m on a player and he's being rotated.
IgPig Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I think its more a case of easing him in than rotating him. He's very young.

I just don't know if he's good enough to start games regularly yet but I think he's shown a lot of us what he can do given the chance.
realtarragona Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Play him up front ffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
