What the f*** is going on this week?

Zambia's Nsofwa dies in Israel

Zambia's Chaswe Nsofwa has died in an Israeli hospital minutes after collapsing during a training session.

The 27-year-old was training with his Israeli second division side Hapoel Beersheba when the tragedy struck.

Rescue workers tried to restart his heart for several minutes on the field before taking him to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.

Paramedic Carmel Cohen said that he rushed to the field when he received the emergency call.

"When we arrived we found the soccer player lying on the grass," he explained.

"We found his friends trying to help him.

"We gave him first aid, electric shocks and an external pacemaker, but despite all our efforts, he was declared dead at the hospital."

It was not known what caused the player's collapse.

Nsofwa was part of the Zambia squad at the 2002 African Cup of Nations in Mali and last year had helped the Chipolopolo win the Cosafa Cup, scoring one of the goals in the final 2-0 win over Angola.

On Tuesday Spain and Sevilla's Antonio Puerta died three days after collapsing during a league game.

are players taking some sort of dud vitamins or supplements that can be traced back to all the players who've collapsed? Sounds a bit Adayinthelife conspiracy - but how many is it now? 5 or 6??

the John scales documentry on the bbc alluded to a link between supplements and the number of the deaths in italian football

Just a silly theory of mine but is it medically possible that these players are training so hard they're accelerating their own inevitable (genetic) death by heart attack?

in other words, a non-footballer wouldn't train so hard and therefore extend his life up until his genes give way yet because a footballer trains so much and with such intensity, they're bound to end up dying younger.

Trooth. Heart disease is genetic and their weak hearts are being put under extraordinary stress. Medical technology will solve this problem soon enough though.

Hopefully Lampard dies from the condition before that day.
