Mascherano had a good game for Argentina, but he does not posess the passing ability as Alonso does so he will never be able to contol a game in the same way, if I had to choose, I would play Alonso every time.

 

The foul on Riise was a bit clumsy and he also got a yellow card.

 

Riise had a good match, got a penalty, got an assist from a good free kick delivery and ket Messi relatively quiet from his LB position, he made an amazing run in the end that could have seen him score as well, but because he is so one footed he wasted the chance after first turning the defender getting the ball over to his right and then trying to turn the defender once more to get it on his left and being tackled.

You forgot to mention he had his usual screamers going out of the park.

 

John Carew of Aston Villa was almost unplayable. He had a stellar night.

 

Daniel Braathen of Bolton was also really lively. Too bad the kid hasn't been more serious in training through the years, he has all the tools to be a world beater.

Riise showed he DOES NOT lack in confidence. Even tried a 35 yard shot - wait for it - with his RIGHT PEG! Talk about waste of chance...
