Scousers don't like people who get too big for their boots.

My dad's no fan of smoking. Hates it in fact and is the single biggest influence on me never having taken up the habit but even he laughed when he saw what had happened to the woman who went around imposing the ban.

Apparently she started in Prescott and then went down the road towards Liverpool showing her credentials and demanding to see each pub's outside provisions for smokers. She was getting way too big for her boots and started pushing the landlords about, threatening them and giving it the big I Am. The tom-toms started beating with warnings she was on her way and by the time she got to my dad's house (sorry, second home, his main residence is in two dogs), the Oak Tree on Prescott Road, her powers had gone to her head. The landlord of the Oak Tree had imposed a gentle introduction to the ban and has a 12-points and you're out type of system! When she heard about that of course, she went ballistic. She was only prevented from issuing him a large fine when someone says to her, "Is that your car on fire outside?"

The b******s had only gone and set her pride and joy on fire in the car park! I'd have loved to have been in there to see it and all!
