Sporting Lisbon starlet Nani is the subject of a transfer battle between England's top clubs, according to reports in Portugal.

 

Heading the queue appears to be Tottenham who have reportedly been tracking the 20-year-old forward for a while.

 

 

 

'If a reasonable deal could be done, we'd take him for next season.'

 

Manchester United have also been linked to the starlet, with their own Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly recommending Nani to boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

 

His club, Sporting Lisbon, however, may not be so keen to let their prized asset leave, although he reportedly has a release clause in his current contract.

 

A spokesman told Sky Sports News: 'The club that wants the kid have a price, £13.5million, only by this money would we be disposed to let Nani leave.

 

'We know of the interest of several English clubs for Nani, and that is normal because of his quality - but until this moment we have received no offer in writing.'
