Alves--------Carra------------Agger-------------Bale

Quaresma-----Gerrard-----Alonso------------Ribery

-------------------------Tevez-------------------------

-------------------------Bent--------------------------

Alves and Bale would give that quality at the back in terms of composure and possession, and they have good movement and when it comes to attacking, so that would open up a whole new aspect to our attacking play

Quaresma, on terms of skill he is up there with placcy, and has superb pace too, think it might take a while adjusting but he would frighten the oppostion defenders with direct running, taking them on with pace and skill and occasional p*ss take with a trick, which always keeps the crowd happy.

Ribery have heard good things about him, seems like a very creative player plus we never have found a replacement for beardsley

I truly belive when players of a high level of skill and technique play together an automatic understanding is created. Thats why i think that an Alves & Quaresma, Bale & Ribery partnerships would totally dominate each side.

Tevez is that vital link between midfield and attack, he's everything we need in a support striker. Pace, Strength, can score goals but can create goals for the team, skill, flair he can be up there with the kaka's of this world if nurtured correctly.

Bent, well i orignally had Huntelaar up there but really dont know how he would adjust to the prem, if he has the skill subset to be that poacher stiker were looking for then someone please put me right. But i have opted for Bent cos he scores goals simple as. Great Pace & Strength, good movement, great finisher & good in the air - everything were looking for i suppose.

I await your abuse!

You're right. I dont like them. You just added about £90m onto the team

All that you're doing is setting yourself up for disappointment come August 31

You can't change 6 out of your first 11 and expect success.

All we need is a finisher and a winger.

Like i stated in another thread our movement is not the best these sort of intelligent players would improve that no end.

I think gerrards drive is needed in the centre, thus we need someone for the right.

Our left hand side is very weak not enough quality there > thats why i chose ribery

So dont u think a player like tevez would give us that edge in the final third?

Ok maybe not change it in one go, but defo would go out and get quaresma, Ribery, Tevez & Bent

But as you know Finnan will need replacing (as he is getting old) and i think rafa is eyeing alves for that spot.

Hopefully this Insua lad is good, so will be challenging riise for his spot.

Bellamy is better than Bent and Tevez - who is w*** may I add.

Alves can't defend for s*** and maybe bring him in as a winger but certainly not at full back, espicially with Stevie Finn' already there.

Bale is over rated but would still be an improvement on Riise and could turn nto a very good player. Not too good deffensively either though. I would still like us to sign him, just not for the £10m or so which I've heard.

Ribery would cost a packet and isquite inconsisent, very good on his day and if we had got him two years ago (like I said) then we could've got a bargain. Left midfield does need quality added though.

Quaresma is a very good player but the right midfield isn't in desperate need. Espicially not for a £10m+ player. Maybe Quaresma coming in from the left is an option.

So you missing out on gerrards drive into the box, to get onto crosses and stuff? so you would have the same problem as yesterday - i.e no one in the box when crosses come in?

Bent is better in the air imo and just as good finsher as bellers,

So you would rather have crouch then tevez? disagree on that one

Ribery will improve as he gets older consistancy will come into his game

Im going the supposed war chest of 100m rafa has to spend this summer. We goto to start thinking big time now, we cant be scared to spend money. I would prefer Villa to bent upfront but dont think he would adjust.

alves - looks quality, although am not convinced he'd be a right back in flat back four in england. wing back or right mid in our game for my money.

bale - vastly over priced. he's the welsh insua for squillions. would back rafa in buying the argentinian bale for relative peanuts after successful loan.

quaresma - not convinced he'd fit rafa's game plans in the english game to be honest, gerrard or alves on the right.

ribery - maybe, maybe not.

tevez - absolutely not, he's nothing more than a show pony. better suited to spanish game where players of his undoubted technical ability get a little more space.

bent - I'm inclined to think he's a big fish in small pond at charlton, not convinced he's got what it takes to be world class, which is what we should be looking for if you're getting rid of any of our current crop.

to sum up - buy alves for sure, ribery maybe a possibility.

Why have you left Deco on the bench?

Crouch would be there, the problem yesterday was Kuyt wasn't in the box enough, too busy out wide or in his own half. Also when Quaresma has the ball on the left to put a cross in you would expect Gerrard to take up a position in the box and vice-versa, like Ronaldo does for the mancs. :)

Crouch is better than Tevez but is a totally different player as well. Crouch is more likely to bag the goals and could hold up the play and be a good target for the wide players. Tevez' game is too similar to Bellamy's for them to work together but the Crouch Bellamy partnership is one that I want to see more of.

I would prefer Villa to bent upfront...

I can't see anybody disagreeing with that one.

Ok Tevez might not be everyone cup of tea but i think we defo need that creative support striker - Aguero then?

no, we just need a lethal finisher to partner kuyt. you'll see a totally different kuyt if he had a 25 goal a season man up there with him.

break the bank for villa or eto, and play them with dirk. keep crouch and bellers to change things when necessary. also still have luis/harry who can contribute that bit of spark up top.

only other big money signing I'd make is alves for now. I think those two signings would take us to the next level.

We know its a squad game and Rafa more than most coaches uses all of his squad so its pretty pointless sticking up 11 players because Rafa doesnt work that way.

Bringing in someone like Alves wouldn't mean the end for Finnan it would just mean we have another option that could play right back at home against some teams, wing back in a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3, or right midfield.

I think everyone knows the areas of the team that need improving if we're going to go with 2 defensive central midfielders that arent going to be spending time in the opposition penalty area we need wide players that will contribute with goals and at least 1 striker that will give us consistent goals.

So not putting up any formations but i think adding the following players to the squad would improve us...

Alves - covers 3 positions in the squad

Eto - the timing could be perfect as he seems to be on his way out of Barce he really could be the world class striker we need. Still only 25 scores plenty of goals and works hard for the team too which Rafa wants.

Wide left player, no single name springs to mind but someone that can commit defenders and contribute with goals too.

Left back is another maybe position Riise has had a poor year but my thinking is now im not sure we should be spending 10 million on someone like Bale. The start Insua has made has been encouraging so maybe hes the left back we need. I dont think Riise can have another poor season like this and i thought he played pretty well yesterday and he is a great squad option, maybe Insua arriving will get him going.

Eto'o or Villa are dream signings, im not getting my hopes up!

my point being, no reason to carry on buying players at the level we have previously. using extra cash to buy 6 10mill+ players would not take us to the required level, or enhance the TEAM in any way in my opinion. Buying 2 players for total of around 35/40 mill would not only be a lower outlay, it would enhance the TEAM immensely.

we're not talking about growing the squad, but adding a couple of world class players to the starting line up, with maybe one more each year following if required.

Alves can't defend for s chite according to some but Ronaldinho didn't go anywhere near his side of the pitch yesterday
