well the long term success of the Liverpool FC entity is now assured - the new stadium will allow long term competition with Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd

if the new owners can give Rafa repeated large transfer budgets then I think our chances of winning the league are considerably improved

to be fair all we are lacking are a few flair players who can run with the ball, play in players and score -- world class wingers if you like

this should help us compete

This morning I read Queros saying C Ronaldo was one of the best talents hes ever seen - well Houllier was in for him and we lost out owing to money

maybe in the future we wont

They're heightened. Not to say we'll win it next year, but our chances just improved.

Well if we'd had a good start this season it could've been this year. We can't be that many first teamers away. I'd go with a lot of what magic8ball say's regarding the type of player we need. What he said and a decent left back and we're there.

And a right back with a stepover and a regular goal contribution?

Stevie, Rafa and the boys will definitley lift #19 sooner rather than later.

Back on our f***ing perch indeed. Can't wait.

I think it might actually get harder now. Expectation will now be a lot higher than ever.

Look at Ballack and Shevchenko, two top class players bought for zillions, yet both have flattered to deceive.

The good thing is that Rafa can be in the market for every player that becomes available now, whether or not they would want to come is another matter.

Sweet baby Jesus Christ....

How can building a new stadium and having more money make it harder? How can it POSSIBLY?

Well, I don't know about that! We are building a new stadium, remember!

There might be one big push to bring in new players this summer but generally speaking we will not "be in the market for every player that becomes available". Let's be realistic here. Building the new stadium will be a colossal achievement under the new owners.

the big difference is that our manager will be signing the players HE wants, not some gormless looking Russian oil baron.

the Chavs seem to take on players they really do not need in order to keep the level of competition down. i do not see us stockpiling players so we can have the most expensive subs bench in history.

we'll be shopping at Harrods from now on instead of Aldi and Netto.

I believe our chances are definitely heightened. At the end of the day, the teams that win the league consistently are the ones that are able to buy the players they want. At the moment, we have to pass up the chance to sign some of the players we want because we can't afford it. This deal should address this problem, IMO.

I think the only thing missing from Liverpool is the funds. We have the manager, the board, and the spine of the time. For me, when you have this, and the funds suddenly become available, only horrible luck can stop you.
