this is a strange move, since arriving in 2004, Magath has won the German league twice and the German cup once.

 

i read somewhere that Bayern were worried about a CL place for 07/08. this seems more like the usual behind the scenes power struggles you see at some of the bigger European clubs.

Their squad has been decimated in the last few years with free transfers for older players (Linke/Zickler/Ze Robero/Lizarazu), Deisler's injury and subsequent retirement will hit them hard. A few buys did not work out either (Frings/Hashemian) plus Hargreaves looking for a move away basically spells out an unhappy or unsteady camp.
