that a manager of Liverpool Football Club's future was decided by a result in the League Cup? I'm not calling it a Mickey Mouse trophy, we'd all have been glad to win it, but ffs - didn't we get knocked out of the arguably more illustrious FA Cup 2 years ago and then still win the European Cup?

Managers of LFC are measured against more than just their team selection for the League Cup quarter final. Some of you saying that your love affair with Rafa has ended and that the only way we're going to win major honours (!) is with a change in management need to have a serious word with yourselves. You're borderline delusional.

well said Shaka. Last night was an embarrassment - nothing more, a makeshift side for a competiton that Rafa clearly has (and the rest of us have as well if we're honest) down as his last priority. If these two results had been two months apart noone would woudl have been too bothered.

It's never happened, but a home FA Cup defeat by Bristol City in 1994 marked the end of Graeme Souness' reign at Anfield.

I don't think Benitez is under any kind of threat as last night's defeat, while humiliating, doesn't matter very much. It's obviously much more important to qualify for the CL next year.

It's quite possible that if we had played our full first team including Reina last night, we could still have lost because Arsenal have so much talent in their squad - the likes of Aliadiere and Baptista would walk into most clubs' first teams. The fact that our squad looks threadbare by comparison is more the fault of Steve Heighway and our scouting system.

its the fact that Liverpool FC conceeded 6 goals at home that staggers.

its not happened since the f***ing first world war and teams played with 6 centre forwards and 1 defender.

it doesn't matter who was playing or what the competition was. all that the record books will show is that arsenal put 6 past liverpool at anfield.

Last night was an embarrassment, but what's even more f***ing embarrassing are w*****s calling for Rafa's head an the like. This draws parallel's to Burnley, ergo we'll win the CL
