Just had an idea for a TV show

Pop Idol in the US got more votes cast than in the last Presidential elections

Clearly there's something to this "voting" lark. "Restoration" did well here in the UK combining the trite and the more serious

So how about.... twice a year there series is....."Law". Nothing too serious, but you could "theme" it. So series one could be Green law

Whereby 6 bills are presented in very simple format for people to vote on... text, email and the like in the normal way .

Series One:

episode one: All producers of junk mail must pay a levy equivalent to the landfill tax for dumping all the materials they produce

episode two: All people seeking planning permission must include solar/wind generation/thermal heat type devices to meet a minimum criteria for planning to be approved

episode three: Wagons to be banned from the roads on Sundays

episode four: as one, but for newspapers and magazines

and so on.

Nice, simple populist stuff that could by-pass all the lobbies and interest groups who could make their case on t'telly beforehand, direct to the electorate.
