Sparring

Someone in work used to box and as I'm starting to get a bit fitter again we're going to sort out some sparring sessions in the gym in work

 

I've only got leather bag gloves - which are a bit hard and I haven't got any head gear.

 

Has anyone got any recommendations on decent headgear and appropriate gloves for light sparring - or are the bag gloves likely to be OK - they seem a bit hard to me?
