This week's gig frenzy

Started with The Young Knives at the Astoria last night. Hmm, not all that much cop really. The album is OK - kinds 6/10 indie stuff with 4-5 good songs and a fair amount of filler. They weren't very good live - no oomph/balls/serious bass to the music

 

Filled out the set with other songs that either were B-sides or should have been. The young crowd towards the front were enjoying themselves though, and it finished in plenty of time for a couple of pints round the corner in the Nellie Dean, which was nice. Definitely a band better on record than live.

 

Oh and they have a band member who twottishly calls himself the House Of Lords which I hadn't realised

 

Next up is Guillemots back at the same venue on Thursday.
