Help need to get on eover on a scum manc fan

This scum 'fan' (yeah, you know the one of those who sing: "We won it two times, without killing anyone") has emailed after a while of not seeing him with some LFC joke about Butlins and the fact that apparently both our seasons are over in August blah blah blah... I duely sent him a pic our Stevie G holding the European Cup aloft stating that was what you said the 04/05, as you do.

 

Then he replied saying how 'our' european cup - the one we won so much we got to keep has their scummy name on it as much as our since Milan kept the last one in the early 90s.

 

I think he thinks that only the names of the European teams who have won it since that Milan sides have therefore got their names on this won, I thought it was ALL clubs since the competition started.... Can anyone put this right?

You sure about that? The one we won in Istanbul actually came into my place of work in about Feb or March and I got to hold it. I'm almost certain it only had the names of those who've won it since Milan kept the previous one.

 

Either way, what does it f***ing matter. We've still won it three times more than them.

yeah - it was a big pic in one of the broadsheets. The names read left to right, as I noticed they way they were done - I thought it would be top to bottom - made it look like we'd won a hattrick

Each to their own then. I don't find it funny. I never will, regardless of what they do.

 

I can understand people snapping on Sunday and giving it back then, but stuff like this I just find bizarre and anyone who partakes in it has, in my opinion, lost any right to be offended by Heysel/Hillsborough gags. If you are ok with that then fair enough, at least you are consistent.

 

Anyway, like I said, it has all been well and truly gone over in the 'Munich songs' thread.

i was going to ask a similar question after visiting the museum this week before the reading game. the one in the museum only has the names since milan in 1990, also as i was lucky enough to have a ticket in the director's box on wednesday night( sitting just behind shaggy, xabi and lil' luis, having no pen for an xabi's autograph for my daughter is another story) on the landing by the lounge there was a big ears in a glass cabinet with only the last few winners on, so is this the same one as the museum and they move it round before every game or do we "own" a couple of copies and the original is with uefa??? also there was 2 FA cups in the museum as well both engraved so again are we safe keeping the copy????

Last May, the Original Champions League Trophy was brought to Malta, and being a committee member of the supporters club, I managed to take some photos, one of which shows the answer to the original question of this post. The answer is: the names on our cup is from 1994/95 onwards, and hence the scum shoould come over to our museum, to watch a cup with their name on it!!

I think the original one stays in the museum, and they have an exact replica (dent included )for public occasions. At least thats what it said in the Echo after it was at Radio City or something so people could get their pic with it.

Yep, thats true, the one which goes out to have its picture taken with people is a copy. I had my picture taken with it in the Echo offices and it later came out that it was a fake!

I leld the original last Saturday night in the museum and have seen and touched it at the dinners at Anfield before. It's only got the winners since 94/95 on it.

 

The dent on that photo from Istanbul is still there but there was another one (made by Baros dropping it) which has now been repaired. It was there the first time I held it and you can see a slight mark now but it's fixed.
