Has it been made public where we got the money from?

There's a rumour doing the rounds that we've sold the naming rights to the stadium - anyone know anything concrete?

Posted

we will be using concrete...

fyds has long maintained that we'd do what Arsenal did.

Any names been banded about?

I've heard Coca Cola :o

Not heard any rumours but Rick Parry said just after the Arsenal Emirates deal was announced that it was something we'd have to look at given the amounts being talked about.

New Ground Name: "The Coca Cola Can" ™

New name for Kopites: "The Hokie-Cokies" ™

New name for Liverpool "The Refreshing Taste of Coke! ™"

Half time entertainment - a load of blokes taking penalties wearing giant foam coca-cola suits.

Liverpool badge - Changed to a piccy of Santa Holding a Coke Bottle.

It's the future I tells ya! Sold out? Not us?

If, theoretically, Coke gave us say, £200m+, what would they expect in return??

That seems an awful lot of money just for naming rights.

Brand awareness i guess. £200m isnt really that much for Coca Cola, if they have a famous team such as liverpool playing in one of their stadiums then it makes the rest of the world look. Not that any one hasn't heard of coca-cola...

All the fans, by law would have to wear specially commissioned Coca-cola ™ Jester hats and Coca-Cola ™ foam hands. Those who have lost their Coca-Cola ™ Jester hats or Coca-Cola ™ Foam Hands have to apply for another one or are refused entry to the ground. A total of 1 (one) replacement Coca-cola ™ Jester hat and Coca-Cola ™ Foam hand are available per season.

It won't be coke. I believe they have a policy not to support an individual team. They know that sponsoring LFC would mean all the mancs, bitters and chavs would start drinking pepsi. Unless they've changed their policy.

Phew *wipes brow*

I thought it might be something serious like a huge chunk of the club as well as the naming rights to the new stadium.

It wouldn't be anywhere near that amount. Arsenal got £45m for 15 years of naming rights.

Blow Jobs from Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.....and some.

It's enough to build it on their own. Doubt they are are going to pass ownership on to us. Then again if they did even I would drink it again.

Maybe not, was just a figure some one quoted earlier. It would, if true, however be more than Emirates. Coca-Cola is a massive company, known in every country around the world, so if they were to buy the naming rights it wouldn't be for cheap.

I agree though with Edinjapan, if coke want to keep selling their product then they would not sponsor a single team. Thats why they did the lower divisions instead.
