Why are we be being singled out for these early games? I know 3pm (9am over here) games are almost non existent, but surely the PL and Tv people should be spreading these early starts across all the teams.

The fact that all of these games are on Setanta is just another thing to get me annoyed. Evewn the midweek games are being taken by Setanta.

LIVERPOOL FC's footballing stars have been caught napping.

But instead of being fooled on the football pitch the team have been having snoozy Spanish-style siestas at the club's Melwood training ground.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is believed to have ordered a respite area to be built at the West Derby ground after introducing double workout sessions at the start of the season.

The area has a number of comfortable beds which allow players to "chill out" between the morning and afternoon sessions. It is aimed primarily at players who live in outlying areas.

Liverpool FC declined to comment

This is the problem, our players want a knap once it gets to round 1pm.....

Same for me, I have to get up early for these fecking games, shouldn?t be allowed, although I can't wait for Spurs.... big all day session planned for that one

it is a joke these days. the clubs, the league and the TV don't give a flying fig about the fans.

what sort of time do you have to set out to get to a game in London, or from London? It's not like you have a great transport system either. Poorly scheduled trains and motorways that are way too congested.

Apart from when there is engineering work, it take two and a half hours to get from London to Liverpool. Not exactly a hardship unless it's a sunday lunchtime game, when there aren't usually any trains early enough.

Does america have any scheduled trains these days?

This has been happening for years. As far back as I can remember since Sky got involved, there has been a 1pm kick off.

Get used to it.

In fact, the club should be used to it now too.

the trains are dependant on where you live. East coast and West coast are not too bad, but nothing much through the middle.

any long trips are usually by plane, but if it's around 1000 miles, people generally drive.

this weekend, Nebraska's University gridiron team plays in Southern California. Approximately 8000 fans are going from Nebraska, mostly by plane.

a couple of guys I know are driving and left earlier today. it's about 1600 miles.

Whats the point here?

I don't get a lie in on a Saturday, and some Sundays.

You lot having to travel is bad, but i did all my early starts many years ago.

I think we have more early rather than late ones (5-15) due to us in Aus who can watch the game at a decent hour :bleh: My comments to Sky and Parry must have been listened too!!!

Seriously I think that more people watch lunchtime games (fans in pubs going to 3pm games too) rather than 5-15 hence the best teams playing then.

Hmm, we rarely have 515 games, and the Mancs and Arsenal have loads it seems

My mistake, I Knew utd had one last week but I didn't think they had that many.

I do think that we (as a club) have some say on kick offs, we have had very very few Monday night games at Anfield over the years, we were always against them. And the club still (Unless they stopped last season) will offer a refund to ST Holders who cant get to the games on a Monday night) I am not sure if anyone has ever taken them up on this but if you tell them in good time you cant go because of the change they will refund you and then happily resell the seat.

Early kick offs on a Saturday off the back of internationals twice, both with tough away games and in a couple of weeks, Bolton away early saturday, off the back of a CL game on the Wednesday. I can't see the club agreeing to that and its just one pain in the a***.

The TV games came out before CL. I think we are getting carried away with the problem. The fans get more of a rough deal than the team, does 2 and a half hours make much difference to their preparation?

Years ago the palyers used to struggle with travel much more when coming back from places like Tblisi and then playing, now they have their own plane, all mod cons, and are well looked after. I have no symapthy for players, they earn very good money and should IMO opinion be able to play 2 full games each week. They only train a few hours a day and have so much free time it is a joke. Arsenal in 1980 played 70 games as they had multiple replays in cups (including us in the semi). I dont think any player plays that much now.

Also players never say they are tired, it is a myth they are IMO.

TV has made the players rich so we should let them have a big say in when games are played.

Rant over!!!

You'll very rarely see any of the top teams featured on a Monday night, unless it's a bank holiday game. Sky initially had high hopes for the 'Monday Night Game' but they've always had very poor viewing figures. They just use it now for the less appealing matches - anything involving Middlesbrough or Fulham for instance.

given the tighter budget we have right now, that is not an option.

it may become an option when I switch to the VOIP and drop some of the cable services we no longer require.

or, and this is a last resort, I go out and get a part time job when my knees are sorted.

for $15.00 a month it is well worth it mate. Have the missus do a little overtime. ;)
