Overall it's been a great transfer window, but

I was expecting a right back to come in at the last minute. Probably Neil, but I had this nagging hope we'd pull of a complete shock and get Alves. After Kromkamp left yesterday I thought Neil was in the bag. Anyway let's hope finnan stays fit or one of the young lads can make the step up.

All in all it's been a good window we've strngthened a lot.

I think Chelsea and Arsenal have both strengthened on the last day, but I don't understand Man utd. They left Rossi go and didn't bring anyone in. So as I see it they have Saha, Rooney and solksjaer as their only recognized strikers. Thry could struglle if they pick up any injuries

... now they've got carrick smithy can head back up front. they've a few options tbh, i'm sure they aren't going to struggle

I don't have the feeling of anti-climax at all. I'm absolutely delighted with the players we've brought in and any player that would've signed yesterday would have been a bonus.

I wanted one of Pennant and Alves. Got it. I wanted Bellamy. Got it. Gonzalez got his work permit, Aurelio came on a free, Kuyt looks like a great signing already... We've definately improved considerably. And I'm still sure Alves will sign eventually.

Can't say it's an anti climax really.

Maybe it seems that way - cos we got all our major dealings done well in advance?

I'm just glad of that, I hate nervous deadline days!

We did what we set out to do, not only in strengthening areas that needed it - but in getting rid of pretty much all the hangers-on that where left (apart from Diao  ), and sending out loads of others on loan. It leaves us with a strong compact first team squad.

The right back thing is a bit wierd though - selling 2 right backs in a summer, only to not then sort a deal for a new one.

Also, I'm glad we didn't sell Harry.

Not really, we left Simao who was a major target until the last minute during the last window. OK we tried to sign Neill, but he wasn't the main player we were after. Kuyt came in good time and so did Pennant and Bellamy thus avoiding any last ditch hiccups.

A good transfer window for me.

Like I said I think we've probably had the best transfer window out of anyone (except maybe West Ham). I was just expecting another signing yesterday, so it was an anti-climax. Saying that the I am more than happy with the players brought in and in a way it's good we had everyone sown up for a while.

Must admit I feel a bit deflated this morning, not cos of who we didnt buy or sell yesterday as I am absolutely delighted with who we have, but the fact that the summer of transfer fun and frollicks is over.

We dont have a game this weekend so have over a week til the derby with not much going on in between. Oh well I guess its back to the formation threads.....

Heard last night that the couple signed by West Ham from Corinthians yesterday are just that, a couple.

I feel that the one area that was generally seen as weak a couple of weeks ago was up front - following the sale of Morientes and the (hopefully permanent) loss of Cisse, we were one short. That was addressed last week with Kuyt.

Rafa does seem to have then created a new "area that needs attention" by letting Kromkamp go, but I suspect he knows just what he's doing.

Rossi was no good in the frst place, Saha and Solskjaer are both very injury-prone and Rooney's never been a prolific goalscorer. It took him until his third season to pass the 20 league goal mark and has never scored more than 13 league goals (last season) I believe, so they're well stuffed anyway as far as strikers go. I believe the over-rated Rooney has only scored four or five more goals at international level than the much-derided Peter Crouch.

Smith was such a flop up front that they moved him back into midfield. He's never been a prolific scorer

Wouldn't say its an anti climax although I can't help feeling a little jealous of West Ham'seffort.

I'm a little concerned at the selling of Kromkamp without a replacement - whether we expected to get Neill but didn't I don't know, but that leaves us with only Finnan at RB with Carra and youngsters as cover. Really hope that doesn't bite us in the ass.

Maybe Neill/ A N Other is on the way in January. Hope so.

If we'd either signed Neill or kept Kromkamp I'd be delighted. Now I've got a worry in that area. I guess Carra can cover with Agger and Sami in the middle intul Jan.
