The congestion charge did a little to reduce congestion but traffic speeds have generally not increased as the road is clogged with buses, most of which are less than half full. I think I have seen a full bendybus about twice.

 

Therefore, any plan to limit the roadspace taken up by buses will likely increase speeds for cars.

 

Of course, rather than buy faceless, hated, flamable bendy buses, they could have invested in a VW beetle/mini style rework of the routemaster double decker. But no, they'd rather throw away an icon of the city.

 

Whatever happens, in the centre of town, 2 wheels are better than 4
