I think it says more about the special talent Gerrard is, rather than the state of our youngsters. You can't be disappointed that the club isn't producing players of his calibre regularly as Stevie may very well end up as our greatest ever player and players like him come along once a generation. Comparing him to out current crop of youth players is unfair to them.

Christ, did you have to sit for a while wondering how to drag something negative from that first post or does it just come naturally to you?

 

Maybe let those youngsters play a few first team games first, as Gerrard had done when Didi made those comments, and then see what people have to say about.

 

And in any case, as others have said, if you expecting us to churn out Gerrard's all the time then you are going to be very disappointed. Players like him come along ver, very rarely - he is already in many people's top 3 Liverpool players of all time.

 

Nobody gave Carra such parise when he was a kid but he hasn't do too badly for us really.

Quite simply, Didi has been fundemantal in our success over the last few years and is a legend. There's the cult aspect with his blinking and his crumple but there's also the undeniable fact he is a class player and a class person.

 

Seeing him on the touchline for the second half in Istanbul was was like seeing Pele come back onto the pitch in Escape To Victory.

sounds about right. Duncan Edwards was born around 54 years before gerrard.
