Where will he be played next season?

He's been used on the left & right, and hasn't been great there. Now that we have decent options on both sides I would expect him to be played as a second striker.

In which case, does that not mean we have 4 strikers already?

Bellamy

Crouch

Fowler

Garcia

How come Luis gets such a hard time? The truth is that over the last 2 seasons Luis has been one of our most important BIG game players and that is usually coming from the right of midfield. Juventus at Anfield in CL 2005, Bayer Leverkusen away, Chelsea FA Cup last year, Arsenal Premier League Home game last year.

Luis is class - leave him alone!!!

I am sure Garcia will get his fair share of games

..from the bench I think.

Garica plays either flank or as a second striker. He was not high up the pecking order last season, in that Kewell and Gerrard always got the nod ahead of him for the wide positions. We've added two new wide men and new striker(s), so I can only see his chances becoming increasingly limited.

He's really going to have to make it count when he gets his chance in the team.

Agreed. It's great to have him in the squad as he can make something out of nothing, but I don't see him being on the teamsheet week in, week out. If he does end up being on the bench a lot, it will interesting to see if Benitez can keep him happy.

We definitely have plenty of options up front. So much so that the likes of Pongolle, Le Tallec & Mellor will hardly get a sniff & should probably move on. Especially if we get Kuyt.

Now that I think about it, he has some competition in Fowler as I think they are similar types of players with Fowler starting to drop a bit deeper.

Yes, probably in the cases of ALT and Mellor but I think Pongolle still has a future at the club if he can show a better touch on the ball.

He will get plenty of games because of where he can play. He may not be that great on the right but I thought he was a massive improvement on his first season, whenever he played there last year. Shows a lot more discipline and willingness to play as a conventional wide man instead of drifting all over the place.

He's still an important part of the squad.

Up front alot in Europe, and covering Pennant on the right. He may not get a ton of games though

Depends on whether or not we sign an attacking right back. Garcia cutting in with a lad bombing up behind works well I'd say.

actually if ALT beefs up, I think hes more chance of a game than pongolle

hes just what we need as a crouch ALTernative ;) can link up play, can hold the ball and use it, good in the air

wonder if ALT is on the swiss trip ?

i would be absolutly gutted if lois left, hes frustrating at times, but sometimes pure magic, creates things from nothing ,always gives 100 %.

Lois Lane?????? :D Didn't know we had her on the books.

If we sign another striker then I've got absolutely no idea where he's going to play. If someone like Kuyt signs then you'd imagine we'll play two of the main strikers most of the time and for the left and right, there's at least two other options already.
