Gerrard did OK I guess..........for the role he was forced to play. He sat back and did win a few balls back and blocked some shots. Still it is like playing a Fender guitar using 2 strings.

Problem is they are all best mates. Dropping Lampard or Beckham is pretty the only way forward to get Gerrard more involved and that won't happen by senior players or Sven.

 

He's had four years since the last one. You'd have thought he'd have earned his money in the meantime and sorted a side, a set of match tactics and a proper squad system out. England can still win this thing but it's by individual players doing something very well a couple of times a game and holding on rather than a team functioning as it should.

my advice is too f*** england right off as they refuse to play you in right position but make sure beckham and lampard do. winds me up big time.

Dunphy was good value today. Souness has potential now that he realises that he's not surrounded by Sky yes-men and he can say what he thinks.
