I doubt our lads could have played another game this season

The lads gave everything this season starting against TNS and ending up winning the FA Cup. In between we travelled to Japan and should have brought the World Club Championship home. Many of the lads including Finnan, Carra, Riise, Stevie, Xabi, Momo were absolutely shot at the end of the game on Saturday. I doubt very much they could have played another game. Lets hope they can recharge their batteries in the summer and start fresh next August in our quest for number 19.

Just watched the game again (cheers JV) and the extra time was just unbelievable.

 

How Sissoko got himself up to make another tackle and then play the ball wide before he collapsed again I don't know.

But I agree, by the end of Saturday, looked like the season had finally caught up! And with having Xabi and Harry Kewell struggling with injury anyway, and then such a long, tough final. We where running out of gas.

 

Mind you, I think some expected Liverpool to run out of gas a long time ago this season tho, and struggle late on, but what do the boys do - go on a 12 match winning run to finish it off Credit to Pako and the coaches for keeping them in such great shape!

I think a CL final on Wednesday may have been the only thing to raise them, but it would have been a Herculian task.

Most of them wouldn't have been able to finish another game...except Momo, who could have run home to Liverpool at the final whistle, and arrived slightly ahead of those who drove home on the M4.

 

At which point he would have gone to the gym for a 10 mile warm-down...

what do the players do now? When do the WC squads get together?

 

Does Rafa have them for another week, or is that, that until after the WC?

 

They really deserve a week off, feet up drinking lager & eating pies, before getting back to training

Xabi's injury will get him a little bit of rest. Garcia will go straight with the Spanish squad i think.

Ridiculously long season. I felt drained half way through myself. And if we hadn't been knocked out of the CL, we could have imploded.
