  1. He's a bright fella is Ray,
  2. rumoured Blackpool on loan, though it seems unlikely from a financial and managerial point of view.

    FSG Watch...

Righto, just don't remember seeing those accounts. Wondered how they would have looked, presumably covering part of a period under H&G ownership, and maybe showing details of the change of ownership. What's interesting so far, and a plus for FSG, is that they haven't immediately followed the Arsenal route. We have at least 4 players, Reina, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas , who's market value is significantly higher than their book value (the 4 in total probably little more than £5M), and hence makes them potentially hugely profitable. Arsenal would have sold 1 or more of those by now, something that keeps their underlying financial picture rosy, but seems to me not unconnected to their lack of trophies.
  4. Only at Christmas
  5. Sames as Spurs in some ways, you're right. Traditionally they've been sides that are much easier on the eye than the Stoke's of this world, success or not. It's a fair tag to my mind.

    FSG Watch...

Have there been figures published that cover the first few months of FSG's reign, ie October ish 10 - Jul 11 ? In terms of how player transfers and amortisation works, that January 11 window on it's own should show a profit of around £45M, with Torres and Babel book value's being quite low, and Carroll/Suarez fees cancelled out by initial asset valuation.
  7. You can't make me
  8. Sounds better than , if it wasn't for this Rodgers fella being a spoofing c*** who's not fit to lace the boots of Kenny or Rafa, we'd be top of the league ma. t**.
  9. And what's all this 'It should be the final' nonsense ? Bayern and Barca are better than both.
  10. Skrtel and Reina are the reason we took 2 points from City rather than 6. There's just no argument against that, at least no logical one. A bottling lino cost us 2 points against Everton, and a corrupt ref cost is at least 1 if not 3 against the Mancs at home. The WBA & Villa home defeats, I'm sure BR knows there were some serious holes in his planning there. Arsenal away, superb effort, and poor lapse from Agger. In short, 5 'big games', 6 points lost by individual, not tactical errors, and at least 3 by officials. 2 'easy games', 6 points lost by failure to convert chances, and left too open on the counter when chasing. You can level the latter at the manager if you like, but not the former for me. All in al, for a 1st season, close but no cigar as things stand. There are some who should try and be a little more objective.

    FSG Watch...

Don't disagree, but the last Summer window is likely a huge problem for some. Whatever went on there, it's hard not to imagine that, should we finish outside the top 4, it will be solely down to that cluster f*** of a window. Form since we brought in two forwards certainly suggests so. Still, we've shown we can scout/attract quality players, even at a time when we were struggling, so a little more patience is probbaly due. At least 3 signings of a level of Sturridge/Coutinho this Summer, and things may start to turn around as far as approval ratings for FSG go. The stadium issue is a minefield, but there's nothing to stop them backing the manager if they're serious, so I'm happy to judge them on that.
  12. The Terry training ground thing could well have prompted this aswell.
  13. Good lad Rafa, give em both barrels. I never understood why he took that job, other than the fact it was probably the first big job close enough to home. Hope he sees the season out and f***s them right up.
  14. Ah, cheers.
  15. Can't see this, what's he frustrated with ?
  16. The price of devotion.
  17. Not a chance in hell any team below us currently, ends up above us, none. Smart money's on 6th, as Everton have a togh run of games, but I'll be hopeful of higher than that til it's impossible.
  18. If you are first you are first, if you are second you are nothing.
  19. Depends on various things obviously. If you want to judge on trophies, then only 1st would do. There's no realistic measure that says how many league positions equal one League Cup, but finishing outside of the CL places, and winning nothing, could certainly be considered a worse season, even as high as 5th. That needs to be tempered with a consideration of improvement in the most important competition of course, being the league, and you either say yes we've finished higher(if we do), or you take the subjective route and assess whether you think that improvement is proof of more to come.
  20. We're in a better position than where we finished last season in the league, fact. You can't judge for sure til the end of the season obviously, but it would take a spectacular loss of form in a weaker set of games than has already passed. In terms of objective measures, we've improved. You can be as subjective as you like, everyone can have an opinion, but right now, we are on target to better last season's league results. These type of comments justify Carralegend's posts to be honest.
  21. Context to Matty's post. Calm yerself.
  22. Finished last season 8th, average points per game 1.37, GD + 7 Currently sat in 7th, average points per game 1.44, GD + 15 Season's not over, but these are 3 objective and vital measure's that we have shown improvement in, albeit small. As far as league form is concerned, these measures are all that count.
  23. No the free kick was ridiculous, but that touch, from someone I didn't think had it in him, was glorious. It's a relative thing.
  24. I've been of the opinion that as much as Hendo has improved, he sometimes looks like he's lacking on the technique/awareness side of things. That touch into Enrique for the 2nd goal tonight was every bit as impressive as Suarez's free kick though. Get's better every month for my money, intrigued to see how good he ends up.
