  1. He really motors with the ball at his feet.
  2. Also seems to take a 'shackles off' kind of approach when attacking. "My philosophy is related to having good technical players. A player must be steadfast in one part of the pitch in order to close open spaces run relays, crosses, come out of his own side of the pitch... and you have to let him invent in the last 25 meters. I tell players, "Let's manage ten set-pieces. We won't be successful eight of the ten times, but we will win the match with the other two." Creative football is hard if you aren't able to combine with others or be comfortable touching the ball. If a coach gets upset the first time a player makes a mistake in the final meters, the player will do things practically, but not make a difference. Making mistakes while trying new things is better than plain football."
  3. My point was that all active threads on here are no better than horses*** freshly laid. I agree with your post though.
  4. Roger Lowry and his generic reposte? Gone back to him going over all the points he's missed. Told him i'm changing banks and all my mates will be doing the same. Can't do any harm.
  5. Just wondering whether all on here know of the RBS campaign led by a poster called Fat Scouser on RAWK? I sent the email to them and got the standard response as I now see many others have. They must be wondering what is going on. It could help. Not sure if I casn post a link to another forum here but the thread on RAWK is called Fight Back Part 2.
  6. Why pick on this thread in particular?
  7. Wealistically, if it was going to be Woy I weally think it would have been wesolved by now.
  8. Lippi? http://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/129539-odds-slashed-as-manuel-pellegrini-tipped-to-be-next-liverpool-fc-manager.html No it's okay. They had discourse in the universal language of frantic hand waving.
  9. He also said France are playing Algeria tonight.
  10. That's a very good point.
  11. Not sure he denied it did he? Seemed to be non committal and saying he knows of speculation but not what is going to happen etc. Apparently he's flying out to South Africa next week and wants it sorted one way or another beforehand. We can do without your ultimatums Roy thank you very much.
  12. Interesting views. http://www.realmadrid.com/cs/Satellite/en/1193041516841/1202773126271/contenido/Entrenador/Manuel_Pellegrini.htm Always aware of new talent coming out of the Americas, Villarreal astutely signed Pellegrini for the start of the 2004/05 season. His five seasons at the helm of the Yellow Submarine were the most successful in the 80+ seasons of club history. Fans of Villarreal, a town of no more than 50,000 inhabitants, will never forget the 2007/08 season when the team finished as league runner-up and especially the Champions League semifinal against Arsenal, where one penalty kick prevented them from moving into the final. That same season Pellegrini won the Miguel Muñoz trophy, presented to the best coach of La Liga. Manuel Pellegrini belongs to the latest generation of coaches who believes that intellectual development isn't at odds with the work done on the bench. With a degree in Civil Engineering, Pellegrini has stated that "whoever devotes 24 hours a day to football is a bad coach. Football is a combination of personality, taste, demands, leadership... Leadership is learned by reading, seeing and living. If football is all I know, then I know nothing." Among his many tactics, special treatment for the ball is a high priority. "We train with the ball; the dynamics of the game. When you make the opponent run and wear out, your personal physique improves. Then there is the intensity from each position: I want defensive wingers to close in on a ball 20 times at full speed, and that can only happen by holding practice matches in small areas... Always playing. Running 800 meters isn't real," he recently stated during an interview. Mobility and fast combination are a large part of Pellegrini's tactical methods. Defensive precision and the tension with which players on the back line are expected to experience games are just as important as the creativity and imagination implemented in the final decisive meters. Pellegrini explained, "My philosophy is related to having good technical players. A player must be steadfast in one part of the pitch in order to close open spaces run relays, crosses, come out of his own side of the pitch... and you have to let him invent in the last 25 meters. I tell players, "Let's manage ten set-pieces. We won't be successful eight of the ten times, but we will win the match with the other two." 13. Irrelevant. It's positive, even if it's b******s. That will do under current circumstances.
  14. His win ratio at Real was very high, 80% odd. It's just that Barcelona had a blinder that season. I remember him complaining that he did not have the final say on how the team played after his sacking. Something like how they would have done even better if he was permitted to play with two wingers.
  15. Oi, do you mind? ...I don't work for the Irish Government.
  16. Pellegrini is expected to meet with representatives of Liverpool Football Club on June 18th 2010 to discuss the possibility of taking over the vacant managerial post at Anfield. 17. Chris Lawler "It happened at the end of training, I was going to the bus which took us back to the ground and passed a five-side game being played between the boss and his assistants and some of the young lads. They were playing without goalposts and a crossbar, just short poles stuck in the ground. One of Shanks' team fired in a shot which seemed a bit high to me. There was quite a debate going on and then Shanks said, 'There's Chris Lawler, he's an honest man. Was that a goal, son?' "I wasn't quite sure what to say. Shanks was notorious for playing as long as necessary to win and I thought it might help everyone, including the kids, who I had been among so recently, if I said it was a goal. But I decided honesty was the best policy. I said the shot would have gone over a bar. "Shanks was outraged. He said, 'Jesus Christ, you haven't said a word for three years and the first time you open your mouth you tell a lie.'"
  18. I reckon you might be having a laugh on a lot of persons expense on here? Good one if you are.
  19. He is a very nice German individual. I for one would welcome him with open arms. (No World War pun intended.)
  20. I want Klinsman Changed my opinion on him today. Thought he presented himself very well in the BBC studio this evening. He also called the game in advance. He thought Uruguay would win and we now know they did. He looks the part as well. Nice shirt, no facial piercings. We should snap him up before the tournament ends or I can see us losing out again.
  21. No problem bobby.
  22. He had 9 cans of stout when he posted that original comment remember. Give that man a break.
  23. I think he was trying to say the best manager he can competently recall. Besides, it is always difficult to compare managers over different time periods and the different constraints they work under. With that in mind maybe Hodgson will become our greatest ever manager if he manages to avoid relegation during his tenure.
  24. How can you be sure it wasn't the 8th?
