Am I the only one who will be breathing a massive sigh of relief when we finally do sign Mascherano on a full transfer? I know it's not set in stone but the signs look good.. what with Sissoko making his dream move to the club he always supported as a boy ;P anyway, signing Mascherano is very much a signal of intent from our under fire owners. Don't take that wrong, I wanted them out just as much as everyone... however I'm willing to give them another chance... as ive said before. Also a little note for those who would wonder whether we are progressing under Rafa or not: Since when have we ever sold a player to the likes of Juve who wasn't even making our bench a lot of the time but will likely slot right into their first 11. You could argue that they went downhill a bit after the relegation of course and you'd be right... however they are currently 3rd in the Serie A and still boast a star studded squad. Alonso, Mascherano and Gerrard... possibly the strongest central midfield options in the world (assuming its 2 that is)

they will. When they show people that they can infact learn to adapt to the english premiership and liverpools general tradition rather than try and force us to adapt to them. I can't help but feel that Hicks in the only problem though. I've heard a few good things about Gillet from montreal candians fans... My opinion hasn't really changed on Hicks, however I am willing to give him another chance. He has a lot of sucking up to do if he ever wants to be welcome backl in his own stadium again.

If Hicks and Gillett have in fact put their dodgey start to an end then I'm willing to forget about it altogether. they've unveiled the plans for a massive stadium and in the next 2 daysw they will hopefully announce the signing of mascherano on a perminent basis. Those will have been 2 signs of a better attitude from the owners. Another major step would be in giving Rafa extended support. Then perhaps a major signing in the summer. who knows, however I won't be up in arms until I see them step out of line again.

agreed. Too much competition for the central midfield places if you ask me. Don't want to sell Alonso but unless you plan to play 4 central midfielders then some of them wont be so happy.

I think that Skrtel is showing signs of being over-awed by signing for liverpool. it's important for the fans to really get behind him (especially when he makes mistakes) in order for him to settle down and concentrate on the game, rather than worrying about making mistakes. Carragher was once the same.. made some mistakes and was judged by them... but he has the right stuff and kept at it... now look at him.

they'll probably manage to put the payments for the stadium off until we have the stadium built though. You'd have to ask someone in the business but Im sure it'd be quite a common thing.. I mean it's a loan for an investment that can't pay off until it's completed.

Hate to be optumistic (or foolish) but I tihnk Hicks may have learned his lesson... Also I am starting to think that the press really didnt help the situation. not letting him off the hook at all... but things have been tough for the new owners (credit crunch making them look like bigger liars)... i just hope things settle down from here and we can win at least the FA cup this season... that plus one very good signing in the summer and maybe a new contract for rafa and I would be happy.

you're mixing up a confidence issue with actual potential and or ability. Carson will be a top class keeper. the money being mentioned is mad alright and we might not get as much as £10m for him but he wont go for less than 7.

Im not sure benayoun would work just behind Torres, however I do think he has the ability to be well worth a try there. Im not sure people realise the talent he has. He is light but he's nimble.

I wouldnt say they intended to put this refinancing debt onto the club in the first place... I think that the credit crunch would have had something to do with the way things have gone. but having said that... its not just about the lies.. its about the fact that Hicks contacted a manager with no club management experience in a move to take over from Rafa (for whatever reason). Not only that but to then come out and tell the press anything about it afterwards when it was already water under the bridge was just damn foolish. Talk about lies all you want but since they have arrived Hicks has done nothing but undermine Rafa and only a fool would try and say that this is just a media storm... look at the facts all you want, look for quotes and pay no attention to the media hype if you want but they generally don't all hype up over nothing... not for this long.

Does anyone know by how much they have reduced the number of corporate boxes? I know they might take away from atmosphere but we're still the same number of seats... Arsenal make incredible amount of cash on match day from these boxes as far as i know. I'd like us to be able to compete with them financially.

ya, and i do wonder how much will be spent on transfers in the summer. I hope to god we can get just another player who fits in to the team and plays at the same level as the likes of Torres, Mascherano Gerrard or Carragher. A player who makes his place his own.

Of course nobody has forgiven them yet but I think people are showing a willingness to forget for the moment. If it's true that we're going to be building a 71k seater stadium then for me that's a big step. I was worried that they would head back to the 60k designs from before.
