  1. Barrett constantly said it last summer: Would it surprise you given the wages we have been paying players over the years? Maxi is meant to be on 90k, Jovanovic was on 90k, Cole on 90k (maybe more)... etc
  2. That's a joke - right?
  3. Well the most reliable people at LFC - Jenkins, Barrett, Smith etc all say Spurs offered a lot more than we did.
  4. FSG are right to tweak our wage structure. We've had Jovanovic on 90k, Aquilani, Cole, Maxi and numerous other players are wages far too high. Henderson is meant to be on 60k, which again is too high for his age and ability. Enough is enough and time we started paying what we think players are worth, not what they want. We also have to comply with the FFP rules and we are close to the 70% wages to turnover ratio which we are allowed to spend on wages. Sigurdsson is not a world beater. He is a very good young player. Is he worth 60k? Not really yet, he might be in the future. Now when we have been over paying time and time again FSG / Rodgers (he might also agree not paying Sigurdsson more than what we offered) are right IMO to not buckling to his demands. Plenty more players around and ones which can improve us and help us get top four. It is a blow he chose Spurs over us, but not a disaster or worth the overeaction we are seeing from some fans, like you. Judge the summers work at the end as a whole, not now.
  5. What a ridiculous over reaction. Maybe we didn't think Sigurdsson was worth paying more wages to? We gave a reasonable offer, Spurs went much higher - about time we started being more prudent with our expenditure.
  6. Where is Aquilani?
  7. I agree. We wanted him, but they obviously thought he was worth more or were willing to pay him more. We didn't, he chose them - we move on!
  8. Or we gave a reasonable offer what we thought he was worth and Spurs offered more so he went there!
  9. I got the point, I disagree. He's ready IMO and just needs a chance, which I think he'll get under Rodgers. I don't think he'll be a regular or anything, but can see him getting plenty of action especially in the Europa. But generally I agree with you we could do with a first choice to play on the left wing, with Suarez being on the right. Then in Bellamy, Maxi and Sterling we have three other good options.
  10. I rate him extremely highly. Have watched every reserve game and nextgen game he has played. Most talented youngster we have had come through since Gerrard. He is the real deal! Rodgers also rates him highly as he wanted him on loan at Swansea last season.
  11. He was immense in that role for Ajax and is for Uruguay. He can be one on one against the opposition full back and skin them for fun, creating plenty of scoring chances for himself and others. It is probably his best position. We need our lone striker to stay central and be in the box to finish chances, not roam. Suarez is better having some freedom. I said we need more, but those are three good options and Maxi is another. I'd get rid of Downing and buy a new wide player. I suspect Cole will be loaned again and not sure what we do with Pacheco.
  12. If Spurs think he is worth more fair enough, maybe he is for them. But we already have lots of players who can play that role and until we get rid of players like Aquilani and Cole off our wage bill we might not be able to pay what Spurs can in that posiiton. FSG / Rodgers will see we are paying Cole 90k, Aquilani 60k+ and think we can;t afford to pay Sigurdsson more than whatever we offered, until we get those two players off our books, as we will be playing three players who can all play in the same position. Yes we miss out on a target, it happens and it will happen again until we get rid of the likes of Cole / Aquilani etc and until we get Champs League football again. But that doesn;t mean we can't improve our squad, as there are plenty of good players around. This is a blow, nothing more, and not the end of the world.
  13. Exactly. Let Suarez, Bellamy, Sterling or a new wide player be wide, as they are threats in that position. Let Ba finish the chances and be central. Saying that I don't see why Newcastle would sell him or whether Ba would want to leave his mate Cisse.
  14. I don't think that is fair. Everyone would prefer to stay at Anfield. The only reason we'd move was to get more seats, but the council will only let us build a stadium for 60,000 seats. FSG are right it isn't worth spending 300 million+ for an extra 15,000 seats - especially when we can expand Anfield now we can buy the property surrounding the ground... that will take time as we have to relocate the occupants, but seems the most logic option. No point in spending 300 million, when we can get a similar attendance for a fraction of the cost expanding Anfield, which is where we all want to stay anyway.
  15. I'd like Ba, but not to play him wide. If Ba comes he plays central, instead of Carroll. Ba is not a wide player he is a striker.
  16. I can see us playing Suarez wide next season. We have three quality wide options in Suarez, Bellamy and Sterling. I hope Maxi stays and is another option. Wouldn't mind Cole, Pacheco and Downing all leaving and a new addition coming in. But for me we need a clinical striker more than anything. You don't finish chances, you won't win many games as we saw last season.

  18. Everton finished above us. Chelsea came sixth. I don't think that is true. I also think it is good we are starting playing players what we feel they are worth, not what they want. Plenty more players around who we can get. We move on to our next target.
  19. If Skrtel goes, then we'll need another addition. But I am happy with Skrtel / Agger first choice and then Coates / Carragher back up and probably the starters for the Europa League. I think it would be good for Wisdom to get some minutes in that competition as well, as he needs a step up from the reserves - as do a few of our youngsters, like Sterling and Suso. But if Skrtel stays, then I think the defense is fine. It can be improved, but I suspect we'll do that when Carragher's contract expires as we have other more pressing concerns.
  20. Enrique willbe fine as long as he plays like he did the first half of last season. The defense looks really strong.
  21. Full time England vs Croatia, 1-1.
  22. Coady subbed for Robinson after 63 minutes.
  23. Yes and I think Rodgers wants us to keep the ball which means you have less defending to do. Our defensive unit on paper looks very strong: Reina Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique Lucas You don't get much better than that.
  24. England losing 1-0 to Croatia. EDIT - 1-1 now.
