  1. Actually he might not have made the final squad,.. I might have got that wrong, as I thought he did. Can anyone confirm if he did or didn't?
  2. Eurosport 2 now. Suso playing in the under 19 Euros. Suso plays a lot more central for Spain and deeper. He is more of a CM for them and looks much more comfortable. England are also playing at the same time with Coady starting and Robinson on the bench... not sure why Sterling didn't make that squad. Updates here: Link Eurosport are also showing Portugal at 18:45, where hopefully Teixeira will be starting, he is in their squad for the Championships. It is 2-0 to Spain HT. England 0-0, HT.
  3. I like the Dempsey link, especially if we are going to miss out on Sigurdsson. It looks to me Rodgers wants someone to play in that attacking midfielder / supporting striker role. Gerrard can do it, but I get the impression he will be used deeper, alongside Lucas. Dempsey might not be young, but he was brilliant last season in that supporting striker role and got 17 league goals, which is a superb return. He also have a very complete game, as he can shoot with either feet, is good in possession and in the air. Everyone assume with FSG we will only sign young players, but our academy is full of young talent and our first team is fairly young bar the odd player. Dempsey could really help us get back into the top four, as we struggled getting goals last season, he can finish and will get in the box to help support the lone striker - something we have been poor at doing, isolating the striker. I think Suarez will play wide this season mostly. It makes sense, as Rodgers likes the side to keep possession, but when the ball got wide at Swansea to Dyer or Sinclair, they had the license to attack the full backs and create - which is what we want Suarez doing when on the ball. Attacking the full back is the best place to do this as you are often one vs one and Suarez can skin players for fun as we have seen time and time again. It seems when in possession the formation turns into a 2-1-4-3 formation like this: ---------------------------------Reina-------------------------------- ---------------------Skrtel----------------Agger-------------------- ---------------------------------Lucas--------------------------------- Johnson----------Gerrard------------??????----------Enrique ----------Suarez---------------Carroll------------?????------------ Really inviting the full backs to push up the field should also again help us getting support to our striker (presumably Carroll), as Suarez and the other wide player can get in the box and close to him. The last 30 minutes against Chelsea should be the blueprint, where Carroll was the focal point of the attack, but Bellamy and Suarez as the wide players were getting close to him. Chelsea couldn't get out of their half and we were looking dominant and extremely threatening. I have two question marks, as I'm not sure whether Rodgers wants to bring in new players for those roles. However I do think we have some good options who could play that role in the current squad, such as Aquilani, Shelvey or Henderson, maybe Maxi in the midfield role or Bellamy and Sterling in that attacking wide position. However I think someone like Dempsey could slot into this team, play a few different roles, but give us more goal threat which was lacking last season. Ideally we'd want Cavani, Lavezzi etc but we can't attract these players with no Champs League football. Someone someone like Dempsey might not be the most fashionable signing or the best option in the long term. However in the short term he could help us get back into the top four and then we can attract the higher profile names. The core of that team is very strong. Rodgers just needs to get the best out of them and upgrade one or two positions to see some significant progress IMO. The other doubt I have is Carroll. He is improving, but I'm still not sure if he is clinical enough to play that striking role for us. He might be, I hope he is, but I think we could do with another striker option who is more clinical, which could make a massive difference over the course of a season. This is why I liked the Borini link, as he can finish!
  4. This was my favourite response from the interview with Rodgers today: It could have been easy for him to say - yes they were poor defensively and it is an area where we need to improve, agreeing with the question. But he clearlyforms his own opinions and isn't scared to say so if he disagrees. We were reasonably strong defensively last season, with the third best defensive record in the league and that was without having Lucas for most of the season. He is also right that we did have a lot of games we dominated possession but couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. I think it is positive he knows where are problems are and he also acklowledges what we did right last season.
  5. Demba Ba would be boss though!
  6. I think Bellamy has been our best player this season after Skrtel and Agger. He has had very few poor games when used. Enrique has been poor the last two or three months which has made his season go from great to good.

I agree. You don't hit the wood work 34+ times without a lot of attacking.
  8. Bellamy has been very good this season.

It might just be a review, the press don't know what is occuring, other than a meeting. It might be a simple review, Dalglish might have to justify a loy of his decisons. I doubt begging will occur.
  10. Lots of foriegn players are overpriced and turd. We should know!
  11. Couldn't care less as long as they are good enough. Some of our best players over the years have been British. Some of our best buys last summer were, such as Bellamy.
  12. I think Elm looks very good and for a reasonable price. Would be a good upgrade on Adam or Spearing. Valero would be good as well, to get Pepe back to his best. Who is Belhanda?
  13. Why the Barrett hate?
  14. Reminds me of Klose.
  15. Finished 1-1, Eccleston with the goal. Think Ngoo might have been sent off. Morgan was subbed before half time. This team started:

Don't think anyone has said that it is our only problem.
  17. To get the best out of Carroll, IMO. Downing I think was bought to supply Carroll with crosses. Henderson on the right was probably meant to do the same, given he creates lots of chances last season for Sunderland, based on opta. One of the biggest mistakes Dalglish has done was buying players to get the best out of Carroll, rather than ones to compliment Suarez like Maxi, Kuyt and Meireles did with some great pass and move football.
  18. I have done! Downing was a really poor signing. I think in January he should have bought in a striker to help us get goals and DM to cover Lucas. I don't think playing Henderson on the right was correct. I think he has played Carragher too much at the end of the season, when Coates has been better when used. The league results have been very poor. I don't think Maxi has played half enough. I have given him criticism, but I am also remembering what we did well. Typing quickly, behave.
  19. Good listen. Seemed more wanted Dalglish to stay than leave. A fair few 50/50, surely if it is 50/50 then Dalglish gets the benefit of doubt, given his CV, we give our managers time and because it is Dalglish!

In your opinion. Not in mine.
  23. You must have hated us under Benitez then.
  24. That is rubbish. Give Dallgish and the team some credit.

I agreed with you we need another CM. But we also need a clinical finisher. So I am not wrong at all.
