on him or the others? perhaps i phrased it badly. was just trying to say that when we don't have so much of the ball he's invariably one of best players. when we do have it, he can look limited, especially when out of form as he appears to be right now. think he and crouch were benitez's cure for the terrible away performances during 04/05.

he's one of the few players we have who is arguably consistently better away from home than at anfield. for that quality alone he should be kept and nutured.

this lad was unbelievable at barca. a great, but could have been much, much greater.

yeah, he's done enough in the past to show he can be a real asset. his passing isn't as bad as his recent form suggests, either. would like to see him get a goal. think that would do him the world of good.

just trying too hard at the moment. think he's pretty instinctive, and a little hit and miss with his passing at the best of times, but perhaps with confidence a little low (and the threat mascherano represents to his place) he's rushing things when he has the time (and the speed and strength) to be able to take a bit more care. probably teams are getting wiser to him too, and crowding him in possession.

didn't arbeloa score against reading from left back? i'm fine with riise, but it hasn't been his best season, although him and aurelio were begining to look promising. he was good last year though, and finished 2005 well. deserves his place in the squad white boots or no white boots.

it's a bit of a joke really. devalued by the timing of the vote and the fact that footballers are more impressed by 'profile' than actual performances on the pitch. think even the writers' award's a bit of a mockery. carragher is unlucky to miss out, although he didn't start the season brilliantly. carvalho and essien have also been very good.
