No. The CL is just a cup after all. I dont even know how many points were behind Utd at the moment, gave up counting weeks ago.

Decent enough player though, cracking freekick, hes never going to get a decent run with a side like Utd. I reckon he could do a job on the wings for us, he'd be better than Pennant for starters.

On a side note, disappointing to see him diving near the end yesterday and also waving the imaginary yellow card when taylor got tripped. Cut it out lad.

This is about the sensiblest post ive read on the matter. Fact is that Malbranque did stick his leg out, was no where near the ball and there was contact. Ronaldo was moving at high speed and it was a debatable penalty, whereas some penalties are definite dives, ie Zokorra Spurs v Portsmouth earlier on this season. It may have been a dive but ive seen worse, even from our own players.

I remember Rafa saying after his first season that we would never be so far behind the leaders again. 16 points is disgraceful considering the expectations we and the club had. Weve scored the least amount of away goals in the whole league and conference, ie more than 100 clubs, and even that one was a dodgy penalty.

The utd game is allways bigger than this one, but ever game is crucial now, whereas the Utd result ruined our domestic challenge a loss here will shatter it to pieces. If we loose today ill happily settle for 4th place.

Say what youse like about Alan Smith lads but i would have killed to have had a player with his passion playing for us last Sunday, shame he didnt sign for us, decent enough player, world class grafter. they were only scandanegians again i would have loved to have had him on our team last sunday.
