Who are you looking up to currently in regards to this? Who are you watching and thinking why can’t we be more like them? Genuine question like. The whole League has gone sterile IMO

Match Topic Liverpool vs Wolves - Premier League, 27th December @ 3pm

Of course you do. The reality is that they had 17 shots, we had 15. They had 5 on target to our 4. They didn’t even score themselves, they needed 2 own goals including one in injury time. Possession stats were the same, 70/30 -
Let’s face it, we’d won the League once in 34 years, and then a guy comes in and wins it in his first season. That’s pretty impressive, and suggests he has something about him. He’s also won another European League too. We then have a huge turnover of players, with a lot of talent leaving and the tragic death of a player in the summer. The 2 biggest transfers in our history fail to hit the ground running. Various other secondary issues combine with the above and we find ourselves in a horrible run of form. There is no doubt that we have issues to solve, he has issues to solve, but why you wouldn’t back the guy who has done what he’s done is beyond me. We were spoiled with Klopp in terms of a “brand” of football. He was an outlier. And football overall has become less “dynamic”’recently. Most games are pretty tepid affairs. Watched Chelsea, widely seen as one of the more cavalier sides, against Villa, “season for the ages”, yesterday and it was hardly riveting. Some passages were like those “s*** 90’s football” clips on Twitter. Transition season this, can’t be anything else with the turnover we’ve had. Top 4 and a run to the latter stages of the CL will be ok for me.

Wolves have lost most of their games by the odd goal TBF. They lost to an injury time OG at Arsenal, and 1-0 at Villa and Newcastle. Their worst away defeat is 3-0 at Chelsea (and Fulham). They are crap but they are aren’t easy to play through, especially away, and they aren’t getting hammered. 2 of the 3 teams above us also only beat them by 1 goal at home. No doubt they were their “worst performances ever” as well. -
Including one, in fact possibly 2, on him that led to the corner that they scored from.

Of course we are. 5 weeks ago we were in the bottom half. Now we are 3 pts clear in 4th. 5 weeks ago we probably do lose this game. Look that might not be much to write home about, but it’s better. -

“Someone like me”. Who knows? I didn’t say “gather ye round and watch this thing explode now” I’m just saying that after the trauma there’s a recovery period, and we are recovering, and making progress. We are in a CL spot, 6 weeks ago there were relegation shouts. And not undeserved. We will need to be better against Leeds as they will have a go and carry some threat. Fulham away is always tricky and Arsenal will be the sternest of tests. We need to be better in these games, of course we do, but at least we’ve gotten back to getting results. Objectively there’s not a lot of “performance” around the league right now. -

I think if you lose 9 games out of 12 then it’s pretty devastating to confidence and it does lasting damage, it’s never going to just bounce back to great performance levels after the turning of some mythical corner. It’s going to be a slow recovery and that’s what we are seeing. It’s easy to be hyper critical of your own team, we were pedestrian at times today and certainly lacked intensity 2nd half but there were also some good phases, and the summer trio of Frimpong, Kerkez and Wirtz are starting to look better. I will take being in 4th outright after the horrors of the last couple of months, and I’ve just watched a really ordinary Villa team beat a really ordinary Chelsea team in a game where both teams showed less quality than ours. We need to be better and build on the run as tougher games are around the corner, but with the way the League is ATM it’s all to play for. -
Had another update at 8am but Arne beat me to it.

Out for the season isn’t he, let’s be honest. Anything this side of next season is a bonus, but I can’t see it, especially with his record. Will be all about getting ready for next season with, dare I say it, a full pre season under his belt. Horrible luck for the lad.

A mate with a source at the club has said Isak is having an operation tomorrow.
-
No, Bradley will be 6 weeks. Bradley is a 6 week kind of guy. Isak will be months.
-
FFS. He’s going to be out for months isn’t he.
-
One of which was his face.

Ha ha. Thanks man. We are in trouble as a forum if that’s the case! Look I went, I’d had a few, you watch the game differently in those circumstances. It’s more visceral, more emotional, your perspective is different. You lack the view, the “bigger picture” etc. It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t dynamic but we battled and we got what we came for. Conceding the goal changes so much (obviously) and it was a horrible scruffy goal (coincidentally scored by a horrible scruff) that we should have cleared about 4 times. Had we not conceded that and seen it out 2-0 then how the rest of the match beforehand is perceived would have been very different I think. ”Good solid routine 2-0 away win” in summary I reckon. Not helped by injuries either. You've got to see it in the context of where you are, not where you wish you were, and from where we were a few weeks ago this is a great result. Except for the last 2 games. Ok sure, but that’s not our problem. And on the day is what really matters.

Lads, we were only “playing against 9” from 90+3, by which time they were just launching it forward at every opportunity as you’d expect. If you’ve a “Slot Out” narrative to fulfill then go ahead, but Spurs away is a tough game and we won it, and deservedly so. Not perfect, but absolutely would have taken it beforehand.

I’m not saying we were playing to the edge of the envelope, but poor? Come on. -
Blammed in the first didn’t he. Fancy first touch, then blammo! Not messing about.

Yes cramp according to Slot in his post match PC
-
His best game for us. A low bar admittedly but baby steps and that.

We weren’t poor mate. -
Did he tweak his hamstring before he came off?
-
That was a moment wasn’t it. We all thought that we were in for something with this lad. And we were, it just wasn’t….that.

Ha ha. All true. But shirt pulling is a foul. A foul in the box is a pen. If he doesn’t go down like that it is far less likely to be given. That’s just the way it is, as we know. FWIW I think it genuinely does impede him, you can see how it shifts his weight backwards, that’s real. The slump to the floor is obviously theatrics. Like I said if that’s given against you you’ve only got yourself to blame. Don’t pull shirts.
