  1. Since when have you had to win by more than 1- 0 to get all three points? When you score, or by how many you win , or against whom should be irrelevant. Every year- Reina's 'handling' outside the area against Bolton, Chelsea's non-penalty last year, something happens. I bet you we get a few wins that we were lucky to get though before the end of the season.
  2. A myth - winning yesterday will mean a lot more than whatever happens against Stoke next Saturday. It has taken points off those you are in direct competition with, something we haven't been doing for at least a decade.
  3. I'm really pleased to see the response from SoS in the form of the open letter to RBS and its Shareholders. This is the way forward. I will be at the SoS meeting tomorrow but I'm hoping it will be full to bursting, that may mean I might not get the opportunity to put my view forward, so I'm putting it forward here instead! RBS and its Shareholders need to know that SoS is not some tiny group of a dozen or so, militants that do not represent the rank and file supporter in the slightest. Is there any way of getting across the numbers backing SoS? Possibly a petition presented to RBS- gathered outrside Anfield next Saturday, no J. Christ's or M Mouse's but authentic names (and an address?) People are far more likely to be willing to spend 30 seconds giving this contribution (it could run to thousands of names) far ,far more than would boycott or picket and it would show the depth of feeling.
  4. I wrote this for another forum but I think it applies here as my thoughts towards Saturday's meeting "First of all let me explain, I am a Lower Centenary season ticket holder of 17 years and the Kop before that. I am a long time lurker but I have to reply to some of the things that have been written here but haven’t got a cat in hell’s chance of actually happening! I think some people on this site (and others) are way off beam if they believe a mass boycott of a game/ leaving early /arriving late is ever going to happen. Equally believing you can picket turnstiles, they are on private property (on three sides) and you would be removed. Around me season ticket holders are all aged 40+ (probably similar to most of the Main stand) many do not have internet access, of those that do, I do not know of anyone that reads any LFC related forums. They are not interested in anything outside the match itself and categorically would not pay for a game, then miss it. Before the game I see many parents with young children, obviously first game ever, new shirt etc. do you think they will tell their children they’re going to boycott instead of seeing Torres? Scandinavians, Spanish, Irish – are they going to pay to get over to Anfield then not watch the game? I bet if you did a survey of how many subscribers to RAWK or YWNA or TLW are season ticket holders it would probably total 1000 max. – and some of those won’t boycott so I guess you might get - at best - a total of 1000 to miss a game i.e. 1 in 44 of the gate! Just look at the number that stayed behind to protest after a game last season. Someone said earlier “ on SSN a boycott of Anfield would send a shockwave across the world” – no it wouldn’t, it would make us the laughing stock of the world, the odd seat here and there empty. Richard Keys would have a field day, saying how we want a new stadium but can’t even fill this one! However tens of thousands read the Echo, so the message can reach significantly more people. A full page advert clearly and accurately reporting the facts that H& G have lied about and listing the possible alternatives that we should encourage to take over would reach far more. So what else can we do? I have no links whatsoever with SOS but I think they are probably quite astute and they must have open communication with the Dubaians. I assume they are being fed some information and advice on initiatives that will help rather than hinder progress and I would hazard a guess there is an awful more going on in the background than we are not remotely aware of. We won’t affect H&G in the slightest with the odd seat being vacant, they have no shame no conscience, no guilt. They can only hurt them by affecting their ability to borrow money and I think the pressure has to come from the banks (possibly already being done by Dubai pressure). Though I am sure the banks would care if there was a significant public backlash through the media, The Echo is already on that case. Secondly I think, rather than a negative futile boycott, a positive reaction to a Dubai takeover could have a significant effect. We are told the Sheik wants to own us, well if he felt the feeling was reciprocated it might hasten things. We know he is an honourable man. We all like to feel wanted and the Sheik will be no different, possibly more so - being saviour to thousands (thus massaging his ego) - is one of the things his money can buy him.
  5. But even footballers get holidays when work is finished!!!!
  6. Why are the squad still at Anfield training
  7. West Ham have shown of course that they are really up for our "cheeky bids" when they thought a million pound bid for Benayoun was so funny!
  8. Is this phrase taking over from "the transfer window hasn't even opened yet" as one of the standard in-phrases to use in this thread ? Was there originally only ever one article and, like the Big Bang every other article is a red shifted version of it?
  9. I'm sure most, if not all, strikers out there are in that bracket!
  10. Doesn't he hate Real Madrid with a passion? He lives and breathes Athletico and joining Real would be equivalent to Gerrard contemplating joining United.
  11. I'm not sure if this has been aired elsewhere but I believe UEFA don't take into account any serious and obviously football related incidents that happen away from a ground. Therefore stabbings for instance, that are obviously football related, and not all unknown in Italy for example don't go down as a particular club's problem unless they happen almost literally inside a stadium.
  12. Unfortunately by saying that everyone's expectations will be built up beyond belief and the actual signing can then only be a disappointment to most.
  13. They are certainly the equal of John O'Shea, Darren Fletcher,Wes Brown, Alan Smith, Solskjaer,Heinze and Silvestre
  14. They will pay the price up front for 19 league games. Then EVERY cup game they will be deducted by direct debit for that game, so they will only pay for the games that they play , BUT they have no choice they have to pay for every Cup game that is played -Carling cup ,Champions league whatever. I know fans that are furious and they are threatening to pull out of their season tickets but there again they also threatened when Glazer took over but stuck with it in the end
  15. Maybe slightly off topic but a sign off the future! Next year at Old trafford all 67,000 Season ticket holders must also buy (compulsory) Cup tickets. If they fail at the first hurdle in every cup then 5 matches @£30 per match adds £150 minimum to the season ticket bill. To add insult what are the chances of a final ticket with that many season ticket holders! Us in four years?

I don't think we should simply compare ourselves to United and conclude we are 20 odd points worse than last year and read too much into it. We might well only be 6 (?) points worse than our points total last year. Still not good enough obviously but United have far exceeded their points total of 2005-6. Compared to Chelsea's points total of 2005-6 haven't we actually moved close to them? So an absolute comparison (against ourselves) is more meaningful than a relative one (against anyone else)
  17. Too late, I've been told 'Red Issue' already encouraging people to hijack it, I checked it out and they are!
  18. I am in Malta on the day of the away match (Mellieha to be precise) Could anyone recommend a pub or bar that will be showing it? Preferably one that might have other Reds in it!
  19. I would not want any player at the team if they have lost confidence because of competition for their places! Surely they only get to the top if they are so competitive and success driven? Rafa always wants at least two options for each position - that hasn't frightened off the players you have mentioned has it, so why should this? Lastly if a player did feel threatened by the competition, wouldn't he want to put himself in the shop window by playing out of his skin from now until the end of the season? I can't see a top team looking at a player without the determination, fight and belief of a winner.
  20. If I sell my house , or car, I will inflate the asking the price. Equally if I am buying a house or second hand car I will offer a low price. After haggling we reach a the price both the offerer and buyer knew all along was the sensible price. Is it the same with a purchase of this magnitude or are the professionals more sensible since both parties know exactly the value and don't waste time/insult each other with ridiculous vauluations?

He signed the Saturday we played Wrexham. I remember hearing it announced on Radio City as I was leaving NEWI car park.
