It was judged not good enough by the standards of the preceding season. Based on everything that has happened to the club in the last 12 months (player sales) and all that hasn't happened (no new owners) matching last year would be a sign of a manager doing a decent job. To think otherwise isn't living in the real world.

In terms of results he's doing no better or worse than Rafa last season so far - Arsenal home (point up), City away (point down), Brum away (no difference), Swap WBA home for Burnley (no difference) and Utd away (no difference). I don't think the perfomances are that much worse either (we were awful at times last year, especially first half). The next two home games will be pretty telling though...

Better never than late

A step forward for Hodgson in this game. Rested the seniors, tested some of the squad and got the result. Good for him.

Is it a bit cheeky to suggest that the improvement in performance must be down to a good half time talk from Hodgson? Or is it strictly no credit for the guy?

That might be true but I still feel gutted if the oppo score - so all can't be lost.
