Arda Turan, born on January 30, 1987 in İstanbul,Turkey) is a Turkish football player in left and right winger position. He is currently at Galatasaray. He played for Manisaspor in 2005/06 season's 2nd half, where he impressed former Turkey coach Ersun Yanal to secure himself a place in the starting lineup. Arda is noted for his consistent performances on the right wing but he is also capable of playing on the left side or as a wing back. Liverpool seek victory and Javier Mascherano from West Ham United tonight, and their manager, Rafael Benitez, has revealed that his club will pursue a legal challenge to sign the Argentine provided Fifa has not decided on the player's future by the end of the transfer window. Liverpool have agreed personal terms plus an 18-month loan deal with representatives of the 23-year-old midfielder - the Media Sports Investment group founded by the former Hammers' suitor Kia Joorabchian - but have been unable to complete the deal on account of the Fifa ruling that prevents a player appearing for three clubs between 1 July and 30 June the following year. Fifa, football's world governing body, is considering Liverpool's argument - that precedents exist on the three-club rule, that he is no longer wanted by West Ham (for whom he has played six minutes since October) and that it would represent a restraint of trade to prevent him appearing at Anfield - but has not confirmed when the Mascherano case will be heard. Despite this, Anfield officials remain hopeful of a breakthrough before tomorrow's deadline and are prepared to continue their fight to employ Mascherano this season should a favourable decision come outside the window. "We are confident, but all we can do now is wait," Benitez said. "Maybe in five days we will have a solution, but Fifa needs to decide before the transfer window. If they cannot decide before, they must give us the possibility to sign him afterwards. Fifa knew about this situation 15 or 20 days before the deadline, and if they know the window is closing they have to make a decision." Benitez said one option could be for West Ham to end Mascherano's contract and allow him to leave as a free agent. Liverpool under-18s took another step towards retaining the Youth Cup with a 1-0 victory over Reading at Anfield on Friday night. A wonder-strike from Jimmy Ryan earned the young Reds a quarter-final tie at either Sheffield United or Middlesbrough. The encounter got off to a cagey start, the hosts perhaps affronted at being made to attack the Kop end in the opening half. The first chance fell to the visitors on the quarter-hour mark when a well-flighted free-kick into the danger area was headed goalwards, Jay Spearing clearing off the line to keep the scoresheet blank. From there the holders were made to defend a barrage of lofted balls into the box, but despite having a distinct height advantage, Reading failed to catch out Martin Hansen, the 16-year-old Dane looking assured and confident between the sticks. The Royals did come close on 20 minutes though, with full-back Julian Kelly unlucky to see a 20-yard effort curl harmlessly into an empty Anfield Road stand. Steve Heighway's unchanged side had to wait more than 20 minutes to carve out their first opportunity. Ryan spotted keeper Alex McCarthy off his line before launching a speculative pot-shot into the arms of one of about 1,200 spectators huddled together in the Kop. It was Idrizaj and Guthrie who scored. A Roque own-goal for them. Was quite an enjoyable game with the start delayed by 15 minutes because of crowd congestion. Guthrie was by far our best player and, apart from the goal, Idrizaj was dreadful. It was a good finish from Guthrie for the second.
