  1. Why should Southampton sell once any threat of punishment passes? They're not obliged to accept our bid.
  2. Strange stuff there, DH.
  3. Our opinions of FSG would be immediately improved if they appointed better people to support the manager. For some reason they don't seem to be capable or willing to do so.
  4. I can't believe that Klopp wanted VVD or no one else in the world. (*If* true, I'd imagine we'd have more chance of recruiting him with administrators better than those appointed than FSG.) And if we want Lemar so badly, why are we bidding at the 11th hour? Of course they're going to demand a premium. Bad business overseen by FSG henchmen.
  5. Think that's the point. We're potentially close and we need that little bit of help getting over the line.
  6. I'm not making those accusations, others here are. My point being that the real reason we're not signing targets is the most obvious one: FSG not ponying up.
  7. Yes, Jarg, but aren't Ayre and Edwards purposefully FSG's men, over promoted and willing to do their bidding? If they wanted the best footballing minds, surely other men would be in place.
  8. Possibly. But he shouldn't have to. FSG know he can do well with less. As has already been said, massive opportunity to kick on squandered. And, I worry, for underhand reasons. Edit: For the sake of balance, Salah looks great and I think AOC will thrive under Klopp.
  9. He's being realistic, tbf. We've got gun-shy owners and a DOF apparently not good enough to lace Ayre's boots.
  10. Instead we're blaming Klopp's intransigence, Monaco for taking the pïss and Southampton for being grasses.
  11. Well, you'd hope so after getting back into the CL and a 'double rollover' transfer window.
  12. If it became apparent that Klopp indeed wanted VVD and no one else, then I could just about accept this whole preposterous episode. As it is, I'm far more inclined to believe given FSG's record that they are to blame. I mean, no-marks like Ayre and Edwards at the tiller... what's going on here?
  13. Yeah, everything's a soap opera. Wouldn't mind so much if I thought it all was as advertised. How Klopp fits into these charades I really don't know.
  14. They're rather good at getting away with spending barely any money. 'Difficult' deals get done when you cough up.
  15. Seems there's always something standing in the way of us spending money. Was hoping these stories of us spending big this summer were true so I could upgrade my perception of them from duplicitous mingebags to occasionally incompetent.
  16. Looks like lightning rod Mk2 has served his purpose.
  17. Southampton would only accept if they deemed it in their interest, so why would they close off that avenue?
  18. What does not budging mean? Ian Ayre calling up and going "oh, go on" every ten minutes? Today's proceedings must already be apparent one way or the other; otherwise, the incompetence is eye-popping.
  19. No wonder Southampton want the earth after we've made it so abundantly clear that VVD is pretty much our only target for a priority position.
  20. Think AOC clearly has the potential under Klopp to merit the outlay.
  21. Shed loads of faith shown in Solanke, especially if Origi leaves.
  22. Aye, and it's easier to think that way after a couple of good wins. Won't be so easy in say, a CL QF, or when the fixtures pile up and we're missing players through injury or international commitments.
  23. Stress fractures are quite serious, tbf.
