I think that's it. He's not used to being on the left or right wing and therefore he will make some effort to learn what Rafa is trying to teach him. But when he gets back up front, that's where he's always played, he thinks he knows what to do and so all Rafa's instructions go out of his head.....

I've met him a couple of times - he's certainly no moron. But he is a politician. And I suspect this had little to do with him - he's wriggling so he can stay in the job that not all that many of the FA suits wanted him to have in the first place.

That's it in eight words. More than anything else, what Rafa seems to want in a player is football intelligence. If he keeps Cisse, it's only because he can't find anyone to pay a reasonable sum for him...

As I understand it from someone who's done such deals before, it's very unusual to agree a naming rights deal until after you've broken ground on construction.....

But weren't we supposed to go to Japan during the pre-season for a tour? Which was cancelled for the Champs League qualifiers? Wouldn't that then even itself out in terms of tiredness? We had to play harder in pre-season but didn't have to fly halfway round the world....
