That's a great idea, especially when he hasn't actually cost us anything/much. Only problem i can see is the lallana type issue, similar to ince from Blackpool.
Gotta admit,,I thought the same, but frankly can see how getting the right players is better for us than big players. We've got something special and don't want to have a billy bit boots coming in and messing with it.
I'm assuming we have Enrique and Moreno for left back with flanno as cover. And we have Johnson, Kelly, wisdom and flanno for right back, battli it out for first choice and next summer we let 3 of them go and buy someone new? What will johnson's motivation be? He'll be in his 30's and looking a last pay which he isn't getting from us. He will likely have an agreement with a west ham or qpr ahead of the end of season anyway, so it's something we need to resolve soon if possible. If finances dictate we won't be adding someone there, fair enough though. Given the options, it's not a critical part at the moment.
From clips, looks like he has the raw attributes to be a great player, but will take time. I'd trust Rodgers coaching to make him a top class player. Will he get time with to develop into that? Price isn't too bad, considering prices for fullbacks these days.
Ayre is good for the club. The back office operations are sound, commercials are flying and stadium is moving forward. Just can't believe that over the last 2 years of looking we were not able to find a better CEO and a better negotiator for transfers. I'll be amazed if we manage to sign a 20mil+ player without our usual drama
Well it's good to know the world wide search and exceptionally high standards meant they spoke to many candidates including Dein, cortese etc and came to a final short list and selected the right candidate.
Had an interesting conversation about a business partner and their drivers for success. Whilst appearing to be successful and making the right moves, we discovered the motivation for the CEO meant it was in his interests to not over achieve in a particular area. Got me thinking. What are ayres kpi's? We've increased sponsorship. We've lowered wage bill. If we sell Suarez, we'll be in the black for transfers over past 6 windows. I wonder if his measures of success don't necessarily translate to on the pitch success.
The issue is what goes out from the club. We're clearly briefing out our intentions and look like dopes. Consistently under bidding is ridiculous. Yes we don't have a limitless pot, but there is a history of this. We can do the deals for under 10mil easily. Coutinho, Alberto, aspas etc all happened quickly as did lambert. We don't seem to be able to get the deal done for the real top quality players or higher value players. It's something our competitors and even pretenders do well - if we want to play with the big boys we need to do better. Not be pushovers of course, but do be deal makers and get it done. Maybe if Ayre stopped doing the business in public that would help?
Ayrenomics. Know the value, under offer, tell the world, talk about effort, blame selling club, panic, loan a player, Save the money. Is it a Liverpool shirt? Both England and Southampton have red shirts too.
Still not sold on the lovren love. Chelsea refreshing well at a low net cost too. Willian, salah, matic and now Cesc. Decent team, all for a mata and luiz.
Sounds like the issue isn't the sell on clause. It's the structure of the 25mil. If it's ayrenomics, it's 15mil bid, with the rest based on appearances, titles, European cups, world cups, euro championships, kids, running for prime minister etc.
It's hard to tell with barca how good a player really is. Given the league over there, you expect a forward player to get loads of assists and goals so how do you normalise the stats?
