  1. Noooooooooo! Mockers!!
  2. I agree. Very early days with 3-5-2 but looks like we could do some damage with this especially when Suarez gets a bit sharper/in tune and Johnson comes back That said, we've looked decent in the first half over several games this season playing 4-3-3 only to fade badly second half so lets see how we do 2nd half.
  3. I think the frustrating thing for me was I almost expected it. Despite bring top of the league and unbeaten, we should have been brimming with confidence. But I'd seen enough in previous games and particularly Swansea, that we seem to have a real problem paying and maintaining a hi tempo game and our fitness levels are alarmingly poor and we ground out results rather than dominated games. So defeats like yesterday seem to be waiting to happen and the act many of us cold see it coming is a major concern. Seeing teams like Everton having more strength in depth is a major grievance. You know utd, Chelsea city will come good and arsenal are already flying. Spurs and Everton now have real strength so I'm actually very concerned. IF we can get Johnson, phil and Allen back sooner rather than later and keep Suarez, Sturridge and Moses fit, then we have half a chance of breaking it to the top 4. Yesterday showed how one or two players make such a big difference to us.
  4. If we can't be constructive when we are top of the league, when can we be? How can pointing out criticisms when we are in such a good league position be seen as knee jerk? If anything, I think not entering a constructive debate about our weaknesses and burying your head in the sand is pretty shallow. The point is this. We are top of the league. Great. Unbeaten. Great. But in every single game, we have had the same major problem. We've been pretty poor, tired and unable to string 3 passes together in any of the 2nd half performances. Eventually, keep repeating the same problems, mistake (one as significant as that) and it becomes difficult to keep winning games. Barring a good save/ poor penno, we'd have drawn v stoke. We got a bit lucky too at villa. Ironically, utd was the least concerning but they were pretty poor. We came unstuck tonight and were very lucky against a team a bit overrated IMO and who aren't exactly in a rich vein of form. We simply cannot keep repeating this pattern. However there IS a positive. Suarez coming back will give us an added bit of quality but means we have extra depth on the bench for whoever he replaces. Interestingly, I think we need Allen back almost as much. If Lucas and Gerrard keep grinding to a halt in the 2nd half like they have been, then we simply have to have someone with fresh legs to come on and give us a bit of energy in there.....
  5. Utter b****x. No way are we any where near kamikaze. We looked controlled, in possession, create a few chances. But then Lucas and gerrard run out of steam with half hour left, as does Sturridge. Then it's back to the walls. What I really can't understand, is plenty of our players didn't even go on international duty and haven't played for two weeks. Hendo, Lucas, Enrique, wisdom, Moses. It looks like we are paying 3 games a week!
  6. What exactly is it about our fitness? We all looked f***ed after 60 ,minutes. EVERY game!!!! Aspas was diabolical. Sterling mot much better. Roll on Suarez returning. Oh, and we spent £15m on aspas and Alberto. FFS
  7. Classic from Carra!!!
  8. I know. I think having the international break has given us time to the and sink in how good a start we've had but also how brilliant a start it could turn into with another win or two. Plus added to that deep down although we don't want to think about it but we are wondering 'what if'. Way too early for any of that but better to be in this position feeling excited than having 3 defeats wondering where our next points are coming from...
  9. Don't think it is that weak actually, plus their front 4 is very strong (michu, bony, dyer, and routeledge) is very dangerous...
  10. Me too. Too many managers rotate for the sake. With of the (few) gripes I had with rafa.
  11. I'm fairly happy with what we've done. Not overly excited but content. Would have loved that real marquee attacking signing, it's clear without Suarez the teams struggles to create many chances and delighted though I am with our start, we have to be careful on trying to grind out 1 nil results every week. That said, if we can keep Suarez fit we'll be in a really good shape. Just would have made much more sense to have used the £15m we spent on Aspas and Alberto towards securing a Miki, Costa, Willian or even Mata
  12. I agree that losing Sakho like we did with Miki then Willian is a horrible thought and we shouldn't count our chickens yet with our track record. Just get it done yoday for f*** sake. Will be slightly disappointed if its only Moses to add to up front, but if you'd asked me yesterday would I be apply with Moses, Ilori and Sakho I'd have said yes, it leaves us much much stronger. I genuinely don't think there will be a Mata type signing on top of Moses though. Given all the bartering and reluctance to do Willian for a few more quid, I reckon we had about £30 - £35m left to spend and it does seem we've shifted our focus somewhat. Whether it is failing to find our main 'marquee' targets for left wing, getting injuries to Kolo and Aly or Ilori/Sakho costing more than we envisaged (or combination of these) but I reckon we are spending most of our dollar on bringing both of Ilori and Sakho, with a much cheaper left winger/striker. They must think Moses will be fine for a year, then we can go back in the market again next summer. So I just don't think Mata, Yarmalenko or any other attacking player worth any big many will be coming in. Not overly disappointed tbh as long as it does end up being all 3 mentioned above. Don't f*** it up Ayre....
  13. Sorry, but this Ilori instead of Sakho is everything that's wrong with this club and the owners. It's yet another f***ing £6/£7m purchase for the future. For not much more, we get a beast of a centre back, with bags of experience and who is desperate to perform week in week out for a World Cup place. But no, let's haggle over a few million euros and settle for the slightly cheaper one with lower wages, who 'might' have more of a chance of a higher resale value. Is he ready to step in now? Well, no, not really, but hey, he really could be something in 2-3 years time. Can't f***ing wait.....
  14. Lets face it, when it comes to negotiating for big players, we have quite simply 'forgotten' how to do it. It's as if we think we are the only ones interested in a player. It's a policy that is totally inept and naive and its no surprise we are failing left right and centre for the major targets. Going for Sturridge and coutinho is one thing when they aren't really wanted by their clubs and have no major clubs fighting over them. But we are (were/should be) after players who are wanted by others more often than not If we f*** up again now with Sakho after being in a prime position, I fecking well despair
  15. @dimarzio - who he?
  16. Don't know how true this is, about us and Arsenal in talks with Turan. But if so, isn't he a 'boyhood red'. Plays as us on FIFA etc?
  17. I'm praying the silence in the media is a good thing. I've been the first to criticise for all these ridiculous briefings to media late in the evenings so can't complain now it has all gone silent. As we are not seeing any sort of links in the press, whatsoever, we are either going about our business very discretely or we are scrabbling around on the cheap with no real direction and it'll end with another whimper as many others in the past.. I know which my money is on.....
  18. Think that's EXACTLY the point though. We've done the opposite and got f*** all. They have identified targets and got them. Simple really. We might nt have been able to buy the same number of big signings as they have due to the bale money, but in many ways, that even more impressive. They wanted four or five and got them! One, ONE marquee signing we've been after and failed miserably
  19. Looks like everyone (well many) are in full on flounce mode! And most who arent are very close to it. lol. Don't worry, I've been in that mode for several weeks now. I'd resigned myself to how it was going to be and the things that would be said by the club. We've hit desperation mode now. Our failure to go in hard for or 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice targets has failed us. Now we are in the worse (but predictable) situation of trying to buy late, when either - A) we have to pay even more over the odds that we were prepared to (and didn't) earlier in the window B) buy players who aren't even our main/initial targets C) end up with cheap, 14th/15th choice targets who are either loans/ free but ultimately nowhere near good enough Although Rodgers is still saying we are trying to sign, we are already hearing the 'ill be content if we don't sign anyone' quote and I'm prepared for the final insult that when Rodgers will be forced to say how hard we pushed but it was a tough market and the money was there but no value to be found yada yada yada. When the fast are rightly in uproar, expect more schite from the owners to the fans . It's all just one vicious repeating circle of s***
  20. Has he signed? We a know that gazumping is is pretty easy nowadays, particularly if the people doing it are a better proposition that the initial buyer. Anyway, ain't gonna happen, just thrown that out there as a deal that we could easily do IF we really wanted
  21. Prudence has to go right out the f***ing window from the owners now. We were desperately short anyway with all our outgoings and generally the first team needed a couple of improvements. But now, with kolo and Allen out with groin and hammy's, we need to start paying that extra few million to secure what we need. If that means £10 million or so on Sakho. So be it. If its £25 million on Turan, or that Ukrainian. So be it. And if it means another centre mid like James McCarthy, that maybe we weren't going to spend till next summer, then so be it. Yes i know £50m is huge but we've are in profit do far, so probably end up with a £40m net spend and a vastly improved squad and 1st team. Unfortunately, I'll be amazed if we even break even. Probably get a couple of loanees in
  22. I've seen some pretty dire full back displays in my time watching Liverpool but Johnson is doing his best to beat them all tonight
  23. I think most people do yeh, but reading the transfer thread some people actually think we don't
  24. Don't worry lads, this squad and first team is really competitive and will challenge for 4th without any more signings. They can wait till January, or even next summer. In fact, f*** it, save all our cash and spend big in 2017. f***ing wake up people, we ae desperate for new players.
  25. What pisses me off is how we failed miserably in the transfer market last summer, we have had months to prepare for this one and two months to implement it. And here we are towards the end if the window with a negative net spend, still to realistically improve the first team and scrabbling around for 6th and 7th choice players and loans Really? Ambition is going out and buying a player for big money that competitors wanted or wound have liked. Or beating your transfer record. It's not trying to get quality players on the cheap, or bidding for players we never had a real chance of because we didn't do our homework, and failing miserably. I might put a bid in for Mata for my local team now, to show some ambition But you are right about the positive of our start. It's great to see. But that's what makes this more frustrating, we DO gave a decent team and squad, but it could be really really competitive in terms of top 4 (or even 3 or higher?) with a couple of quality additions
